Working to Overcome our Tendencies Toward Judgment, Part 1 of 3
Originally published on February 5, 2013 at 2:50pm
Non-judgment is a gift to self in Self. Self as used here = Soul; self = mind and body as they have learned through experience.
Non-judgment allows us to see what we would otherwise be missing if we were to continue to walk around in the blinders of judgment — and that is one helluva lot!
Judgment is a learned behavior that is either directly or inadvertently taught by those who remain in ignorance, i.e., those who do not yet know in some way or another. Each and every one of us does not yet know in some way or another. As such we are all on the same page in this way.
We Are One.
As we are learning to see through the eyes of our perceived ‘other selves,’ be they spiritual partners, friends, lovers, brothers/sisters, the nun next door or the garbage man, we ourselves have an opportunity to learn a great deal.
Why allow ourselves to continue to walk around as an effect to the cause of being conditioned by those who do not know quite yet?
As we continue in the work of eradicating this habit of judgment from our own minds and thoughts, i.e., as we begin to attend a bit more to what truly matters in life, we come to realize that we will continue to experience this feeling of judgment, only on other levels. For example, as through our brothers and sisters who have not yet trained their minds, more or less, to let go of this habit. Also, you can add to the mix — the judgment of energies, if you attune in this way as well. It happens; it is very human actually. However, I won’t go into all of that here.
The good thing is that we can be this change as through our actions, both inward and outward.
Eradicating the habit of judgment makes us much more pleasant to be around. In fact, others will begin to seek us out simply because it’s nice to be around those who do not spend a lot of time in judgment. As empaths we get to learn, and directly, that people who tend to judge less feel much lighter than those who tend to judge more. It is as it is.
As we teach ourselves to still the inner and outer commentary we will begin to see, feel and experience that much more as we walk through this world.
The energy of judgment causes a of feeling of ‘energetic dissonance’ in our own energetic fields, as well as the fields of those we are presumably judging in any given moment. Those who are sensitive can clearly feel this energy. Some folks may not yet be consciously aware of it, however most folks react to it on some level or another.
Take a moment, take many moments to observe the impact that the energy of judgment has upon others and your self. The next time you are chillen’ at a coffee shop, sit and observe.
If you have maintained this habit in action called judgement over time, pay attention and catch yourself. You may just be one of those folks who silently thinks, ‘Oh my God, look at her, she is …’ no need to continue with that sentence. So let’s pay heed, catch ourselves and stop. Judgement is a huge waste of energy that can be focused elsewise.
Let’s make these choices together and make the world a lighter place in the process. Let’s delete this behavior from our arsenal of habitual activities. It truly shifts things up.
It is also good to be aware of our company. We can re-groove if we are not yet strong enough in our own practice, and we are spending time with those who aren’t actively choosing to be aware in such ways, quite yet. Once you are strong in your own vibe, you can see if a return is resonant. Sometimes a return can serve in uplifting others, other times it can pull you down. If it is resonant — it is. If not, let it go and allow yourSelf be where you Are. You deserve it. This is what you have put your energy and focus into. Enjoy the beautiful space that you have created. Bette Midler’s song, ‘I’m beautiful’ just danced through my mind — love it when that happens:

The practices that are reiterated below were taken from an article series that I wrote back in 2010. However, here it takes on a new form:
Whenever you catch yourself in any form of judgment — stop.
Instead of thinking about what you do not like in the perceived other, shift focus and look for something in that person that you do like. It may take a moment to find something to focus on but you can do it! We will all have plenty of moments in our lives to practice this — that is for sure.
We got this!
After having spent a few moments focusing on what you do like about this person or experience, silently chant: ‘There is no you and me, there is no you and me.’ Silently repeat this over and over again until you begin to feel a shift in the energy.
When you can sense the shift in energy, begin to silently chant, ‘We Are One,’ this will take it a step deeper. Feel it. Attune to and remember this feeling as this is where you will want to remain.
With practice you will eventually get to see/feel/experience a shift in the person/people that you are interacting with, as well as within yourself. The key is active practice.
This practice serves in helping us to consciously learn how to focus our energies in a way that moves beyond ‘you-me’ consciousness. It is a step deeper to actively teaching ourselves, through experience, that We Are One.
