Words are like buckets filled and emptied of meaning, many are magic when used the right way;
whispers that can come out just like screaming, really depends on what you’re trying to say.
Context is King and Queen of the court, without it we’re stuck with impulsive retort;
Assumption the Jester, a joke that will fester; unlawful arrester of truthful protestor.
Reactions, distractions, knee-jerk causing factions;
so separate and desperate, won’t work if we’re fractions.
Dividing up wholeness to hear what we’re feeling; let’s take a beat while layers are peeling;
offense that gets taken, foundations are shaken; when you awaken you might be mistaken.
Presumption can cause a misunderstanding, so please make sure you know what you heard;
open your mind, allow some expanding as meaning can change for any a word.
Thank you so much for reading and/or listening.
And as always a special thank you to all the editors at The Lark, especially Denise Larkin for creating this publishing space and hosting this friendly competition.
