The Lark Publications wants your poems. It is competition time!

If you are already a writer with us you can submit your poem for this competition on Monday, 25th July 2022. The closing date is 8th August 2022. Writing your best poetry showing off skills and rhyming using words any way you want will be noted.

Poem Rules

Each poem should be at least 110 words long. The theme is to write a poem about something personal to you. It can be anything as long as you are passionate about it. You can be passionate about a partner, a pet, a friend, family, a personal item, a hobby, etc. Anything at all but it has to be personal to you. Use your words visually. The Lark wants to see how visual you can get. Sharing your own pictures will be a bonus. When submitting your poem for the competition to The Lark, you should state under the heading in the sub-heading space that you are submitting it for The Lark’s poetry competition. Please only enter one poem per person.

All poems must have never been published online before including in blogs, magazine publications, etc, especially on Medium. It must be completely new and fresh. After the competition, if you are not a winner you can publish your poem again anywhere you want. If you are a winner please do not publish the poem anywhere else until after it has been published in the book.

Please tag the poem ‘competition’ along with tagging it ‘The Lark’ and ‘Poetry’.

Competition Rules

If you are a writer for The Lark you can submit your entry immediately. Being a member of Medium’s partner program will boost your earnings and boost your page views. It will also allow you to enter The Lark’s competitions. Of course, you can still enter the poetry competition without being a member of Medium’s partner program, but you will not be able to participate in the winning process. For instance, the first, second, or third place will not be eligible for non-Medium partner program members or new Medium writers. Not being in the Medium partner program will go against you. If you are not a member of the Medium partner program or you are new to Medium, you can still be a runner-up in the poetry competition and be published in The Lark’s book if your work has been chosen.

Winning Poems Recognition

There will be first place, second place, third place, and ten runners-up will also be recognized. First, second, and third place will be shared on the following social media pages: UPDATE: There are first, second, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth places plus twenty runners-up.

Your winning poem whether in the first, second, or third place or a runner-up will be mentioned on the winner’s poem’s page published in The Lark Publication.

All winners’ poems including the ten runners up will be published in a book titled The Lark Publication’s Best Poets to be published at a later date on Amazon Kindle and paperback this year which will be announced after this competition. All winners must give their permission to be published in this book but each writer will own the copyright of their poem. All the book’s proceeds (money earned from it) will go to Cancer Research.
