With One Bound, Jack Was Free
The finale (part 4) of a ‘choose your own’ story
Image by the author and MidJourney
This is a ‘choose your own’ fiction story, “drabble edition”. You can check out Chapter 1 of this story, ‘The Burned Village’, or check the previous chapter: ‘Two Against One’, by JF Danskin.
Two gladiators are bearing down on you. Gremgor and Tox’ar lie bleeding on the ground.
Dara, however, has slashed the throat of the gladiator she was facing. Now, she shoots her last arrow, hitting one of your foes in the back of the neck. He collapses.
You see your chance. You rise, slam the shield into the face of the other, stunning him. Then, with a mighty bound, you grab Marroz by the ankles. Your weight is enough for him to lose his footing, and he slithers into the fighting pit, landing directly on top of your other foe.
*Squelch*

If the title confused you: it is a reference to a popular phrase, sometimes said to originate from a cop-out approach (by writers) to cliffhangers. Read more here.
