“My mother’s love has always been a sustaining force for our family, and one of my greatest joys is seeing her integrity, her compassion, her intelligence reflected in my daughters.”

-Michelle Obama

I would wish my mother Joan, twice a year for Mother’s Day. I would first wish Mum on the day when Mother’s Day is celebrated in Britain, and then again for International Mother’s Day.

Mum was living in India where International Mother’s Day is celebrated, which is on a different day in the year. My mother, Joan was a loving, caring, charismatic, friend and mentor to me.

“To describe my mother would be to write about a hurricane in its perfect power. Or the climbing, falling colors of a rainbow.”

-Maya Angelou

My mother passed away a few years ago and I miss her and think of her often, especially during these special days. I sometimes wish that I could just speak to Mum on the phone like I used to do, these are special memories and reminds me of the strong mother and son bond of love that we shared.

In this article, I would like to give a shout-out to a few of the brilliant writers and mothers here on Medium.
