NOSTALGIA

The Forever Girl and the Eternal Woman

A Poem in Memory of my Mum Joan

Photo provided by Author- Mother and Son- Joan and Warren

The young Joan with her bag of books skipped to school, Enjoying every day of studying and playing, Making friends and learning all interesting things, Exciting stories to make her imagination take wings.

Young Joan waited patiently every evening, For her Dad to return from his job as a Customs Officer, He would tell the young girl his work with enchanting stories, About the hidden things he would find from valuable gems to cheese.

The wings of love fluttered in one day, And young Joan fell in love and married, The handsome young man of her dreams, Melvyn, An acclaimed Storyteller in the city and a librarian.

Two children came after a few years to the loving couple, She took care of them and nurtured her small family. Joan supported and encouraged her husband in his endeavors, They were a lovely couple for several years.

The housework and taking care of the family never ends, As one busy day into a new one blends. It was from washing, feeding, and caring for the family, To take them to school, and later university.

Uniforms, teachers meetings, games, every day was full, But, she filled those days with love and care. Mum would offer us good counsel and guidance, She would laugh and tell us stories without end. A loving wife, mother, and a true honest friend.

She prepared the most delicious dishes for her family, I love to cook and this is also Mum’s legacy. Mum was always a mentor and a best friend, Full of unconditional love and affection.

The time came when both children got married And moved far away from home. When the Grandchildren came Mum was overjoyed, She was with pride and happiness buoyed.

Joan and Melvyn were alone once again, The loving couple was always seen walking hand in hand, One day, my Mum was no more, She had left us for Heaven.

We sent up to heaven our prayers and our tears, We know that Mum looks down on us over the years. My Mum will always be, ❤ The Forever girl for me, ♥♥ The Eternal woman for all Eternity. ♥♥♥
