PHOTO-A-DAY CHALLENGE

Wishes, Critters, and Peacefulness

Second Week of November

Day 1

The cover photo is where I wish I lived. Does anyone else drive by somewhere, even if you have no idea what it looks like inside, judging just from the outside, you wish you lived there? I wish I drove up to this beautiful white gate in front of this long, boldly colored, tree-lined driveway and called it home sweet home. (In the fall, but maybe not so much in the winter).

Day 2

I returned to the plaque from last week. I found out this is a municipal employee memorial tree grove. It honors the workers that died while serving the citizens of Philadelphia. It was dedicated in 1999 and there are ten people memorialized.

Trees make great memorials. Do you have a memorial tree that is special to you? I think I wish to be memorialized by a tree.

Day 3

There was a tire fire and a lot of dark smoke miles away, behind the city. I could smell it when I opened the roof to take this photo. I was stopped in traffic. I just wanted to see if I could view the smoke but this photo ended up being interesting for other reasons.

There is a haziness engulfing the scene, the sunshine beam split into two perfect slits, and the jet stream looks like a bomb that's been dropped on the city.

I wish for a quick clean-up at the site of the fire.

Day 4

I finally caught one of my backyard squirrels in action.

Day 5

When I got off the highway near the airport on my way to work I saw this buck. There was no other traffic so, as I do, I pulled over, backed up, and took a picture.

My dad is at his hunting camp for deer season. I let him know that I shot a buck, with my camera.

Day 6

Although this picture didn’t come out clear, it was the only one I could get before the hawk turned and flew to a nearby tree in my backyard. It makes me laugh, the way its arms/wings are tucked behind its back to push out its chest, and it has such thick feathered legs. With the lighting just right, t looks like a naked human.

Day 7

This sunset picture was a great punctuation mark to the end of this week. I wish for the kind of peace I feel in this photo to embrace the world.
