Winter Fun On the Hills is Unlimited
Sledding, skiing, and snowboarding

“Let it snow” was my favorite song, the Frank Sinatra version*, before I started driving in Toronto. My first driving experience was during the epic snowstorm in Toronto when the mayor called the army to help the stranded citizens.**
Being a novice driver, it was so hard to maneuver the car on the icy roads and remain calm in front of my nervous kids and hyper-anxious mom. There are numerous stories to tell about the funny- and not-so-funny experiences of my winter months.

However, I never stopped having winter fun with my kids; both of them loved the snow and snow-related leisure activities, from avid ice skaters to skiing and snowboarding. We have spent most winter weekends freezing either on the ice rink or skiing hills and resorts.

Unlike me, my children learned to skate and ski after a few lessons. I was always too scared to go on the snowy slopes. I enjoyed sledding on small hills while they skied or snowboarded until I was officially discharged from driving duties.
My son is still obsessed with outdoor winter sports and just sent me these amazing pictures from Big White Resort, Kelowna, BC.

Snowfall is magical, as it showers droplets of purity in its remarkable snowflakes. Each has its distinctive shape that is never replicated. How can one not be impressed by its charm and beauty?
For me, the fascinating sight is how the bare trees glow after welcoming the falling snow on their branches, making it look like a winter wonderland. Trees never complain about the freezing temperatures and blowing wind rather comfortably, allow the snow to become their ornaments.

“When snowfalls, nature listens.” Antoinette Van Kleef
Now, I prefer to stay indoors when it snows unless there’s an emergency and lie down on the couch listening to the song (Let it Snow) creating happy memories inside on a snowy day.
