My experiences of being in the snow

“To appreciate the beauty of a snowflake, it is necessary to stand out in the cold.” — Aristotle

I have been many times in the middle of the snow. I live in the plains. It does not snow here.

The first time I was caught unaware was when I went to Mussorie. It is the queen of mountains in India. I enjoyed watching snowflakes falling and covering all the houses.

I had taken a group of 30 students on an excursion. You cannot imagine the joy in nature.

As Aristotle said I stood out in the cold and felt the cold and loved the cool breeze.

I then had another experience in Kashmir which has a lot of snow in India. I made snowballs and threw them across and I made a snowman.

Snow inspires me to be adventurous

Snow in Canada

My photo above is from my visit to Newfoundland when I was invited to be the keynote speaker at a conference.

As I came out of the airport I saw a blanket of snow at 3.30 AM. It felt like…

“Waking up to a blanket of snow is like a morning lullaby, a soft dreamlike state that is almost magical.”― Nancy Hatch Woodward

The conference organizers would be happy to see me in a sari to represent Indian women but with so many inches of snow, there was no way that I could do that.

It was freezing cold and I was covered from tip to toe in woolen and a waterproof jacket and waterproof heavy shoes. Still, I felt inspired to go out and take a walk in the cold air.

I felt the cold wind whistling past my face. At first, it was cold, and I was trying to combat it. Then I began to enjoy it as soon as I got over the feeling of cold.

Then I saw large boulders of ice in front of people’s homes and machines cutting it to make it easy for people to move.

There was a lake where I was standing. It was all frozen.

The feeling of snow was like the first love. Snow falling on me will always fill my heart with sweetness. Snowflakes are one of nature’s most fragile things, but they solidify and stick together.

After visiting Memorial University, Grenfell Campus

I went to Toronto and my friend took me to Niagra Falls. As you can see, 👇🏽 A large part of the water was frozen and parts of it were spectacular.

Review of Nature Posts Of Last week

I would like to thank all my dear nature writer friends for their overwhelming support in writing about the moon and other nature stories.

Before I review the posts, I would like to thank our honored guest and collaborator Monoreena Acharjee Majumdaron on behalf of Reciprocal, the editors, and myself for honoring the publication and spending time and reading and commenting on every post.

She will be writing a post soon on her experience with the posts.

Now let me review the beautiful posts. Your posts touched me. You have written with your heart and I have loved each post. Thank you so much. The sea is honored.

Marianne O

Marianne feels the peace and serenity of the sea. She has the message to go to the sea when the mind and body are in turmoil to restore serenity. In her words “The waves melt away your worries and are soothing to your nature”.

Marta Henriques

Marta feels that the sea imposes respect, life, calm, and sometimes the storm. It can be as beautiful as it is deadly. She has a passion for the sea and thought there were mermaids there but never saw any.

William J Spirdione

William feels that the sea sweeps away stress. He enjoys the waves and gets relief from physical discomfort while gently floating in those salty waves. He feels refreshed walking on the soft sand.

I was spellbound by the lovely pictures he clicked and posted.

Joyce Nielsen

Joyce loved the Fiji Islands and equated them with Hawaii. The beaches there had fewer people and wide open spaces for meditation. The Fijians have beautiful voices and are warm, sociable people. The wind filling the sails brought us swiftly to our destination. The water was a deep turquoise blue and the sand was appealing.

Shubha Apte

The combination of sun, sea, and sand is the most natural form of therapy available to humanity. She loved her strolls on the beaches of Mumbai. The sea and the cool breeze washed away the day’s pain, stress, and negativity.

Akemi Sagawa

Akemi speaks about her experiences with the sea at Seattle She had never seen a ferry as open as the one in Puget Sound. The “sea” for her is calm, quiet, and serene. She feels like a baby floating in a mother’s womb.

Dr. Fatima Imam

What a creative post from Fatima. She talks about the beautiful shapes of the rocks. She looks at the sea and raises her hands in absolute delight to thank the Gods of the sea for creating such mesmerizing beauty.

Wendi Gordon

Wendi is deeply immersed in the sea world. So much so that it soothes her soul. She feels a sense of calm and is at peace. She enjoys being underwater forgetting about the world above and its problems. She wishes that she could make the sea her permanent home.

Duncan Klein

Duncan feels that the ocean is beautiful. She has a sense of awe and wonder. Its vast expanse is a constant reminder of the vastness of the universe, and the infinite possibilities that it holds.

Hermione Wilds Writes

Hermoine loves the sea and finds the sea sound, soft and sweet, a ripple, and rhythmic back and forth, a motion, like a repetitive swinging. She says it has a connection with the brain waves.

The message she gives is to listen to the waves and her question is can you hear the waves of the sea?

Kerrie Gutierrez-Diaz

Kerrie feels that the roots of her family are not strong due to the fact that the family is spread out in different countries and the young people are not too keen to know their family background due to the complexities. The roots become thin. Also, people in the USA don't think of their roots.

Caroline de Braganza

What a lovely post on nature. She was stressed due to her husband’s health issues. The Universe blessed her with cloudy weather. She loves to gaze at the sky on cloudy days and wonder about the beauty and peace of nature.

Chrissy Cordingley

Chrissy loves trees and is especially drawn to fir trees, and the way they hold their shape and color no matter the season staying steadfast and strong. Their pine scent is alluring and fragrant and she tries to inhale as much fresh air as she can.

Marta Henriques

Marta like me loves succulents. Look at the photo of the beautiful succulents that she has recently purchased and is trying to grow them. A lovely refreshing posts on how she cares for them.
