Why Your Articles are getting buried on Medium
Things which helped me a lot to grow on Medium
When I joined medium, I was assured my writings can surely change the thinking of the world. But, things never goes as we expect them to. My first Article got around 50 views and I gained around 3 followers.
So, I figured out the reasons which were not letting it to reach the vast audience of medium.
1. Self Publishing is equal to not publishing your article.
I started my medium journey with my nickname. Therefore, nobody on this earth knew me on Medium. Not even my friends. So, I started with 0 followers on June 17th 2020. Hence, it is common I would end up getting zero views on medium if I published my articles on my own.
Thereby, Publication comes to play its role. It publishes your article and it is seen by all of the people who follow that publication. Some publication has more than 100K followers and are known as Tier 2 publications.
Hence, I was always able to reach more audience with Publications. Now, when I have around 140+ followers, I can take the risk to self publish my article but I would rather wait for some more time.
2. You are not paying Attention to curation.
Curation is the process where Medium Staff Editor publishes your article on homepage of medium.
So, curation has many guidelines from medium.
Try writing articles which can help people, give them entertainment. Be the writer for the people. It will surely lead to curate your articles by medium.

3. You are not using proper Tags.
Assume that you have published your article to a big Publication with more than 200k followers. So, all of them are following that publication for different reasons. Therefore, Medium has a very good algorithm to show people what they love to read.
Basically, Medium algorithm only understands your topic by tags you mention in it. Proper tags will help it to send it to interested reader.
Common example is that, when you see some random video on YouTube which has nothing to do with your interest, Thereby you will never watch it. Same goes with medium, when you wrongly tag your article, it can reach to the wrong audience, resulting into failure of your article.
