Why You Need To Start Taking Spiritual Retreats

It’s time to recharge and discover yourself

Social media is something that almost everyone has and uses every day, including me. While social media has its benefits such as spreading awareness for certain causes and creating movements for change, it can be very overstimulating.

There are a lot of distractions in life that can drain our energy and influence the way we think.

Even being around too many people can be very draining, especially for empaths because we practically absorb everyone's energy around us — even the bad energy.

With all of these distractions in place, we tend to lose touch with ourselves and veer off path.

Spiritual retreats allow us to take time for ourselves and get back in touch with who we are.

A spiritual retreat doesn’t always need to be somewhere far away. Especially in the midst of a pandemic, traveling is a little difficult and a lot of people don’t have the means to travel right now which is fine!

When I say spiritual retreat, I mean anywhere away from other people and technology. This can literally be locking yourself in your house and unplugging everything so that you won’t be tempted to log onto Twitter or Instagram.

The purpose of being isolated from everyone and everything is that it causes you to turn inwards. Think about it. Imagine being locked away somewhere with no one to talk to and nothing to do. You have no choice but to be your own company!

If you think you might feel lonely — good! Learn to spend time on your own and enjoy your own energy. If you’re the codependent type, spiritual retreats can help you break out of your habit to depend on others and make you feel more secure on your own.

There are many other benefits of taking a spiritual retreat. Here are some of them.

Discover New Parts Of Yourself

You might think you know everything about yourself right now but trust me after a spiritual retreat you will discover new aspects and talents that you have along with, hopefully, a greater sense of self-love. You’ll be able to try out new things that you’ve always wanted to do and move freely without having to worry about others. You’ll learn to make independent decisions for your own happiness.

Release Stress

Spiritual retreats allow you to unwind and let all of your stress and worries out. If you’re going through a time where you feel stagnant and don’t know what direction to take next, spiritual retreats can help you figure out what the next steps should be. Being by yourself with no distractions means you get time to relax. Relaxation opens the door to a greater perspective. You’ll be able to see your issues from a higher point of view and figure out a plan to get them resolved. Also, connecting with nature will help you get more grounded and feel more stable in life.

Face Your Emotions

We all know that when we’re by ourselves our mind starts to race and all of the thoughts we were trying to ignore comes to the surface. If you’re going through a tough time but feel like you can’t face the issue head-on, a spiritual retreat will force you to confront your emotions. You might trigger a spiritual awakening or begin doing shadow work to better yourself and ascend higher. Even if it’s painful, remember that this experience is allowing you to close out an old cycle which means new beginnings are in store for you. Think of it as the rainbow after a storm.

Lessens Anxiety

As someone who struggles with anxiety myself, I can vouch for this one. There is nothing better than relaxing in nature with the sun beating down on your face and not a thought in your mind. There’s no worrying about deadlines to meet for work, there’s no social media to sway your opinions, there’s no drama or people there to bother you. It’s just you and your soul enjoying god’s greatest gift, nature.

Increased Mindfulness

What better time to practice mindfulness than a spiritual retreat. In fact, sometimes you don’t even have to consciously practice because a spiritual retreat will help you do it inevitably. When you’re away from society and technology you tend to have very deep thoughts and questions about why things are the way they are. You’ll naturally begin to tap into your higher self to help you figure out the answers to your deep divine questions. You might even get the urge to reach out to your spirit guides, angels, or ancestors because you’re leveling up in your natural gifts.

Learn About Different Cultures

Depending on where you go for a spiritual retreat, you’ll not only learn more about yourself but also gain a greater appreciation for other cultures. One time I went on a spiritual retreat to South Korea and learned so much about the way they go about their everyday lives, their mannerisms, and even learned a little Korean. Also, the cafes over there are superior which is a plus!

After a spiritual retreat, don’t be surprised if you come out as a new person with a new perspective on life. Spiritual retreats can only benefit you.

There are plenty of benefits of taking time away for yourself so what are you waiting for? Turn off that phone, shut down that laptop, and go somewhere isolated. You won’t regret your decision, I promise!

Sending love, light, and healing energy your way. Good luck on your journey!
