Abstract

Agnes Laurens reflects on the joy of cold weather, drawing from her personal experiences in the Netherlands. Despite the country's limited snowfall, she cherishes memories of ice skating and wearing a favorite sweater during her youth. Laurens contrasts the current sunny weather, where people flock to beaches, with the invigorating effects of cold weather, which she argues can refresh the body and mind, improve blood circulation, and strengthen the immune system. She suggests that cold showers could be beneficial, though she has yet to try them herself. Laurens also invites readers to share their own feelings about cold weather and announces her upcoming Patreon page and mailing list for those interested in her work.

Why We Should Be More In The Cold Weather

In these strange warm weather time, I think to go into the snow and breathing all the fresh air from it. I love being in the snow a lot. Not that there is much snow in The Netherlands, but I still love it.

I remember going into the snow more often when I was a little child, ice skating on the lake nearby. I still see myself wearing a pastel pink sweater with a young woman on it with skis in the snow. I always wore this sweater these times, but then the weather changed a lot.

Now the sun is shining we don’t even think about being in the cold weather at all. It is too cold. So everyone on the beach, sunglasses on your nose, swimming suit on and lying on a tower the soft sand, sipping your glass of wine. We all need to get the vitamins from the sun. We all need both. Cold weather is actually much better for your immune system. Here is why.

Being fresh

This hot weather we have at the moment is very nice. Being in the cold weather is even much better. I always love being in the cold weather, though. When I’m in the cold weather, I feel fresher and more bright. The cold weather is literary blowing into my face. The freshness in my face is so cold, you are awake immediately. At the same time, you can continue what you were doing as you have more freshness in your immune system.

Benefits

At the other side, the cold weather has also its benefits. When your body will be in the cold, or you get a cold shower, your body will be healthier and your mind will be much stronger. It will boost your immune system. Our body will warm up when we will face the cold weather to stay at the right temperature. Having a cold shower is good for the blood circulation and it is good for less transpiration.

This all is why I love it so much when it’s going to show and it is very cold outside. It feels so fresh. I haven’t tried being in the cold shower, but it is on my list.

Do you love being in the cold weather and why?
