Why Pursuing Hobbies In Groups Is Important

Hidden Benefits

There are a few things that can significantly improve your quality of life straight away.

People often think of doing these things in their daily lives but they lack the drive for it. We have all heard about them repeatedly, again and again. All it needs is just a little push!

So, what is it?

Generally, a person pursues it during leisure because it’s very interesting. It's called a hobby! It makes a person happy too.

As a person, I like to write, paint, and study cinema in my free time. While doing so, I witness the release of endorphins — the feel-good hormone. So, my mood improves as soon as I engage myself in the hobby.

If you pursue the hobby in groups of people, then it is more beneficial. For the past couple of years, I have been actively attending live painting events in my locality. This had surprising effects on my socializing skills.

My abilities to mingle with people, foster friendship, and undertake activities got improved. Though all these may appear as a momentary effect, it actually had a long-term outcome for me.

Also, it didn’t feel like doing an intense painting activity because of the jokes, short chats among the group members. People share their artistic experiences during these conversations. And some people in the group like me keep listening to them with unwavering attention.

I noticed that the ambiance also played a big role in keeping this activity easy and non-serious. To be more specific, it was the visual appeal. It comprises the beautifully decorated interiors and lighting arrangement of the place. Even, a constant humming noise of the crowd rendered a lively feeling to the group activity.

A lot of physical interactions happen in these kinds of group activities. As an instance, I was borrowing crayons, pencils, and other colors from my fellow members. So, I was physically connected with my fellow painters. Sometimes, people were having a glance at the painting of people beside them. All this made the event very dynamic and bustling with creative energy.

After a while, all the pictures made in the group events were placed on the table for a single photo. Later, these photos were shared with everyone. All this provided an amazing community feeling. It radiated a sense of achievement as a team. People felt united as a single entity. This marked the end of my group painting event.

Later, while biking home, I felt deep inside that I have made a tiny accomplishment in the creative sphere.

To summarize, pursuing a hobby in groups of people has amazing gains. These include mood improvement, time engagement, physical interactions, chances of witnessing nice visuals, and community feelings. If you have undertaken a similar activity, please let me know in the comments. I would be happy to hear them.
