And when I have written about those things before here on Medium I have been swamped by comments from other men from all around the world who had similar tales to tell. And if that is not enough to run for the hills I don’t know what is. And I hid out in those hills for a good ten years.</p><p id="ea7e">Financially my first ex quartered me and the second left me penniless, costing me well in excess of a quarter of a million euros! Who wouldn’t run for the hills after that?</p><p id="ce71">I am happy to report that ten years ago I met wife number three and oh boy, she is special. Nothing at all like the first two. In fact, at great cost to herself she saved my life. If it was not for her I most certainly would not be here. And it is for that reason that hand on heart I cannot make sweeping statements about all women. They are not all bitches, and not all men are bastards.</p><p id="a397">If anybody is in any doubt about the viciousness some people, try surfing through YouTube true crime stories. They are a lot more widespread than you might have thought. From a personal perspective, I believe that lots of men refuse to marry because in some countries it is such a one sided contract. In far too many cases, come a divorce and the woman gets the lion’s share of assets, if not all. First the woman gives the man a darn good kick in the balls, then she gets the authorities to cut them off! This happened to me in the UK and in Spain.

I also believe that it is for that self-same reason some women demand a divorce, it’s time to cash in that cheque. I am saying some rather than all as I don’t think sweeping statements are helpful or born out by statistics.
