Why Life Puts You Through Many Trials

When we go through trials, we often say to ourselves, what did I do wrong? Why is the universe allowing me to suffer? Did God forsake me?

I know this place very well. I've lived there. Life has put me through many trials in the past 4 years, I’ve gone through severe testing in every area of my life. From my love life to my family life to my professional life. I have lost so many things I thought I couldn't live without. I have asked all of those questions.

When the devil hears you ask those questions, he gets inside your head and tells you God does not love or care about you. He says look at your friends who live a life of sin but never go through the challenges you have to go through.

Learning how to discern the voice of the devil is important when you go through trials. The devil will speak fear into your heart.

Storms Draw Something Out of Us

Trials are sometimes necessary. It is how the universe shows its power. Trials shape us into the person we are meant to be. Without trials, we would be so comfortable where we are and would not make any changes in our lives. Trials make us so uncomfortable that we finally rise and make a change.

Change never comes from our comfort zone, change happens in our discomfort. God uses trials to show us how powerful He really is. You might have read bible stories of people like Job, Daniel, Joseph, David, and more who all went through very trying times.

God trusted these people with trials because he knew they could handle it. I wouldn't remember any of these people in the bible if it wasn't for the trials they went through. God uses trials so we can see how powerful he is when he delivers us from them.

Being on a spiritual path does not prevent you from facing the darkness, but it teaches you how to use the darkness as a tool to grow — Unknown

God uses storms to make us better. To transform us. To help us awaken. Without storms, we wouldn't appreciate the clear blue skies or the rainbow. Without trials, we wouldn't have half the wisdom we have today. Trials shape us to become the person God intended for us to be.

By changing your perspective about life, you will see the hidden miracle in your most difficult moments. Whenever you feel overwhelmed by your trials, remember these 6 things along with bible verses to help ease your mind.

1. Trials Are All Part of The Plan

Be confident that the universe is working for your highest good. This helps you to stop worrying about how things will work out. There is a reason for the pain you feel today. The universe guards and guides you. Your suffering is part of the plan God has for your life. Just believe.

Be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth — Psalm 46:10

2. Trials Prepare You to Serve

The universe works in mysterious ways, but it often involves us facing trials. Every trial that comes our way is meant to test our faith and strengthen us.

You can help someone in a similar situation because you have been in that situation. You can comfort others because you have been through the same thing, and through the pain, you trusted in the universe. Without trials and challenges, our body and soul would grow weak.

3. Trials Make You Depend On A Higher Power

God brings trials so we can solely depend on him. When we go through the most difficult times of our lives, we quickly realize that our family and friends can't really do much to help. He uses trials so we can see his power when he delivers us. Trials are God’s way of making us so uncomfortable we stop depending on ourselves and begin depending and trusting him to save us.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding — Proverbs 3:5

4. Trials Make You Grow Spiritually

Your trials are never in vain. They strengthen and help you grow spiritually. Our trials remove things from us that no longer serve us. Our trials deplete us of all of our resources so we can rely on the universe for our every need.

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds. Because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything — James 1:2–6

5. Trials Discipline You

God often uses trials and challenges to get our attention and show us our not so righteous ways. The trials we go through in our life all work together to discipline us, build our character, integrity, and we gain wisdom as a result.

God does not inflict pain on us because He wants us to suffer. Suffering and pain are just a part of life. He uses our suffering, pain, and disappointment to discipline us. He uses our trials to correct and mold us into the person He knows we have the potential to become.

My child, do not reject the Lord’s discipline, and don’t get angry when he corrects you. The Lord corrects those he loves, just as parents correct the child they delight in — Proverbs 3:11

6. Trials Humble You To Serve

Life puts us through trials to humble us. Without humility, we would not do God’s will. You will make every excuse in the world. Pride can lead you to make mistakes. Sometimes we go through trials because of our own doing. We suffer because we fail to listen to our intuition. When we go through trials, we learn things that humble us and make us wiser.

Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour — 1 Peter 5:6–8

You Can Handle It

The storm will come, but it will not last forever. Trials are an opportunity for us to share our testimony so others can see what God is capable of. Don’t run from the trials. Are trials difficult? Very. But I would trade none of my trials because of what God did through them. I wouldn’t be who I am today if it wasn’t for the pain, the suffering, the disappointment, and the trials.

Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me, Your rod and Your staff they comfort me — Psalm 23:4

God puts you through many trials because he is using you for his glory. So have faith and be courageous. You are going through trials because you can handle it. You wouldn't be given anything you can't handle.
