It is not the load that breaks you down, it is the way you carry it — Lou Holtz
In this article, you will learn 7 simple ways to reduce your stress levels right now.
Plan your day the night before
One of the best things you can do to eliminate stress is to map out the next day. Use a journal or an electronic device to get everything out of your head and onto paper. Don’t rely on memory alone. The mind is prone to forgetting. Having a to-do list makes you more focused and motivated. Make a list of everything you need to do no matter how small and you will feel accomplished once you check it off and move onto the next task.
Make your bed every morning
How does making your bed reduce stress? It’s been proven that accomplishing something first thing in the morning makes you feel productive and good about yourself. A made bed equals a cleaner bedroom. We spend 1/3 of our lives in our bedrooms. Your bedroom is designed for rest, relaxation and sleep.
People with clutter in their bedrooms experience more sleep disturbances. It can weigh on you all night interfering with your sleep — plus there is nothing more peaceful than coming home from work after a long day walking into a clean bedroom and climbing into made bed with clean sheets. Set a goal to make your bed every single day until it becomes a habit.
Declutter
Your mood is affected by your surroundings. Stress in your life could be related to a messy environment. Disorganization at home and at work has a negative impact on your life. Clutter affects your state of mind. It reduces motivation and leaves you feeling unhappy. Clutter and disorganization lead to anxiety and depression.
Cleaning your space clears your mind. Set a goal to start with one room — the one you spend the most time in. Pick up all the clutter you can see and you will be amazed at how much better you feel sitting in a decluttered environment.
Clean the kitchen before you go to bed
The last thing you want to wake up to or come home to is a messy kitchen. Clutter is stressful. Those who describe their homes as more cluttered experience more stress and are more likely to experience a depressed mood.
Unload and load the dishwasher — wipe off the countertops. Listen to a podcast while you clean. You will invest in yourself while you invest in your home. You will love waking up to a clean kitchen that is in order.
Save money
This is so important. Money and the lack of it causes a lot of stress. It can lead to major personal and family issues and even wreck relationships. It is not about how much money we make; it is about what we do with it. To eliminate stress, establish an emergency fund. Start with a small goal.
Knowing that money is there for you when you need it significantly reduces stress. It gives you peace of mind when unexpected financial challenges come up. It doesn't matter how old or young you are; you need to save money consistently.
Exercise
We all know the physical benefits of exercise, but exercise also improves our mental health. Almost any form of exercise can help reduce stress. Exercise improves your mood. It increases your self-confidence and relaxes you. It can lower the symptoms of mild depression and anxiety.
When you make exercising a priority in your life — even if it is 20 minutes a day — it can improve your sleep, which is often disrupted by stress. Exercise eases your stress levels and gives you a sense of control over your body and your mind.
Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people just don’t shoot their husbands. They just don’t- Elle Woods

Spend time with God or in meditation
Prayer and meditation are powerful. The peace that comes from having a relationship with God also brings benefits to your mental, physical and emotional health. Nothing can reduce or remove your stress like spending time with God or in meditation.
Stress is the absence of peace. Prayer is the presence of peace. When you spend time in prayer, peace shows up.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus - Phillipian 4: 6–7
So the bottom line is when you get things in order, your life overflows with peace. Getting your life in order eliminates stress. Do these simple things and watch your stress lift off of you.
