Why Letting Go Of Ego Can Help You Achieve Anything

A recipe for success in anything

Whether it is avoiding the opportunities presented due to being afraid of looking like a fool or being unnecessarily defensive to protect ourselves against imaginary threats, our ego is the roadblock we need to jump over to reach success in anything.

So today I’d like to share with you why letting goes of our ego is essential, and how to achieve that.

This whole concept is a really complex matter because our ego makes us feel like we are defending ourselves against the world but what ego really does is create imaginary threats to our self-image, and thus we end up falling for its traps.

And as we keep listening to it, habits such as avoiding trying new things, and easily becoming defensive become almost like second nature with time. This is a big issue because this way of thinking leads to us becoming unnecessarily defensive, and missing out on amazing opportunities.

As Ryan Holiday says in his book called, “Ego Is the Enemy”:

“Ego is the enemy of what you want and of what you have: Of mastering a craft. Of real creative insight. Of working well with others. Of building loyalty and support. Of longevity. Of repeating and retaining your success. It repulses advantages and opportunities. It’s a magnet for enemies and errors.”

So letting go of our ego can help us to achieve anything because it eventually opens us up to growth and development.

A person who is not always worried about how they appear to the world can go through failures, and changes, and instead of feeling humiliated or embarrassed by them, they can let themselves learn from them.

That’s why it is important to set yourself free of ego as much as possible, and one of the ways it can be done can be by letting go of the desire to prove yourself.

We often lose ourselves in the game of trying to prove that we are capable, we are smart, or even try to protect an image of perfection that is impossible to sustain for any human being.

So if we can let go of this strong desire to prove ourselves, we can focus on experiencing the only life we have and be more open to whatever comes with it.

Thank you for reading.
