Why it is important to take initiative
Action — A brief insight
Do you remember any situation where making no decision was the right decision? I can’t think of any.
Whether you choose to do or not to do something it is a decision. But if you do not decide a thought process is started and keeps going on. Don’t get me wrong.
There’s nothing wrong about taking the time to consider your choices. But at a certain point, these thoughts lead in nowhere. We are immersed in an endless cycle of constantly recurring thoughts. Like in a spiral, the same direction is repeated over and over again. Maybe these thoughts come in slight variations, but in the end, they do not lead to a decision.
You don’t want to end on this cycle of inaction it will do nothing well but rubbing your energy. Deciding will save you from wasting unnecessary time on sorting your thoughts. Imagine what you could have done with the time that you spent overthinking.
“What would life be if we had no courage to attempt anything?”
― Vincent Van Gogh
Having to make a decision can give the impression of being restricted in your own freedom. Any other possibility will be removed once you have chosen one. That’s what decide literally means to cut off derived from Latin decidere.
If this feeling leads to the point, that you won’t seize opportunities, then your freedom is restricted.
Standing paralysed, live through the same loop of thoughts. Decide now, unfreeze.
Only through new experiences can one encounter new thoughts. And how do you experience new things? By choosing to do something.
“In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing. The worst thing you can do is nothing.”
— Theodore Roosevelt
You are only free when you start to take responsibility for your actions.
Thoughts that are not followed by action are going into the void. No new thoughts can arise from the void. Only variations of the same thoughts will appear.
