Why Isn’t My Blog Getting Any Traffic?
I have got over 1,000,000 Page views on my blog and it one time I asked this very same question.
I shared my Blogging earnings with one of my friends and she impressed enough to start her own blog on WordPress. She published her first blog post, then second and third after a week. One good morning, I wake up with her call and she told me “I just check my blog stats and I only got 1 view” If you have a very similar experience then you aren’t alone. The right question to ask is “What I am doing wrong that isn’t getting my more traffic?”
In this article we will discuss the following things;
- The content marketing strategy
- Building Audience
- Don’t keep all your eggs in one basket
- Writing Long-form Content
- The conclusion
1. The content marketing strategy

Having a proper content strategy is very important for your blog as a beginner. When I was starting out, I thought Social media traffic will make me more money but when I got over 20,000 hits in a single day from social media, it doesn’t add up the money I was expecting. Then I thought, giving my 100% to a single platform is not a good strategy so I started learning search engine optimization. You can’t learn search engine optimization completely because Google update their algorithm so you need to keep yourself updated about the recent changes.
It is always better to write and publish your content on multiple platforms in order to have a pipe-line for generating yourself blog traffic. When I started writing on my blog in the Winter of 2017, I was just writing on my blog and not building any channel, the only source I was targeting is a Search engine but not the publishing my content on Medium, Quora, Sharing it on Reddit and other platforms like Pinterest.
2. Building Audience
You can build yourself an audience through Email marketing, building yourself a social media following, and building an audience on Pinterest. Pinterest is an ideal platform for Bloggers for many reasons. Pinterest is a platform for people who to promote your blog posts. In the recent Google search update, Pinterest was the winner. Before that, I wasn’t aware of Pinterest and other sites like Medium, Quora, and Reddit.
Build yourself an audience because it will help you in many ways in the future.
3. Don’t keep all your eggs in one basket
Once a Millionaire book author advises this very same thing in his book. “Don’t keep all your eggs in one basket” You rely on search engine traffic and most of your blog traffic leaves you without submitting their email or following your social media following.
There is another thing is to add Push notification marketing strategy to get more people to read your stories when you just hit the publish button. One big company that provides a Push Notification option for free is called “OneSignal”, the process is that whenever a reader visits your blog, they will receive an option to “Allow” push notification.
Find a platform(s) where you could build yourself a permanent following so that even if your blog traffic from the search engine goes down, you have a platform(s) to not lose shit over it.
4. Writing Long-form Content
According to a case study of Backlinko, Long-form content gets 4X more traffic, 4X more Shares, and 2X more backlinks. According to another Backlinko case study, “The average word count of first three positions in first page of the Google search has over 2,300+ words”
Even though Google 200 ranking factors the word count isn’t a ranking factor but most bloggers who are writing a 3,000+ word count articles are getting more traffic and easily getting ranked for a keyword. Even, some of my Medium stories that are ranked on top of the Google search are the one who has more than 2,000 words. Google loves stories that are a guide for a reader and solves many problems related to a specific topic.
5. The conclusion
Blogging on your blog is a slow game; if you think that you will write a great article one day and the second day you will wake up with thousands of views or shares, then for majority of writers this is their wet dream. WRITE. EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.
I am writing on my blog for the past 3 years and it has enabled me now to make thousands of dollars. If a person like me, a not-a-native writer with not-so-good English grammatical skills can make $$$$ from his blog then you might end up making more. All it required is; persistent, passionate, and not leaving learning.
Because Albert Einstein once said;
Once you stop learning, you start dying.
