Why ILLUMINATION Is My Publication of Choice For TRAFFIC

And why you should consider it too

One of the attractive things about writing on Medium is its built-in source of traffic for your content. If you have a website lost in the tangle of weeds on the internet, this is a good thing.

As I soon discovered, getting a Medium account alone did not guarantee the traffic would see my stories. Medium is not a Field of Dreams.

Don’t get me wrong. Medium is GREAT! However, if you think squatting your content on a profile is going to send the masses running to you, you are sadly mistaken. The real traffic on Medium is somewhere else.

The real traffic for most Medium writers is found in publications. (Curation seems to be the ultimate content showcase but it’s a harder nut to crack and not the focus of this story.)

Below is the meaning of a publication as defined by Medium.

So publications are where Medium’s traffic congregates. Great! But according to Medium, you can only be in ONE publication at a time. Which one of the thousands of publications should a writer apply to?

The rest of this story will dig into some of the considerations why I choose ILLUMINATION as the publication to share the majority of my content in.

Welcome to TRAFFIC, an acronym story.

TOPICS

There is merit in submitting your stories to a publication in your niche. But if you enjoy writing about a wide range of topics like I do, then your search for a publication should be one that caters to many different interests. Business, Poetry, Fiction, and Philosophy are some of the topics on ILLUMINATION.

RELIABILITY

It’s a credit to Dr Mehmet Yildiz and the rest of the ILLUMINATION team how quickly stories are approved. I can almost set my clock for the arrival of the daily digests. That kind of reliability lets you know your contributions are given serious consideration.

ATTENTION

ILLUMINATION offers its writers a number of ways to get attention. The daily digest is great exposure but there’s so much more. Every writer is encouraged to submit a Bio story. Many writers have been interviewed. ILLUMINATION also has a presence on these platforms: Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Flipboard, YouTube, and Pinterest.

FAST-GROWING

I don’t want to date this story with numbers because ILLUMINATION is growing exponentially. The reach and audience this publication affords writers is impressive. And it's only going to get better. Come join us!

FRIENDSHIPS

I’ve made friendships with writers all over the world via ILLUMINATION. I enjoy publishing a story late at night and waking up to find one of my CAPITAL Acquaintances, has read, clapped, and commented.

INCENTIVE

I don’t know how some of the writers in ILLUMINATION are as prolific as they are. But it motivates me to put my head down and keep plugging away. That incentive is the encouragement I need.

CHALLENGES

I LOVE challenges. The writers in ILLUMINATION are constantly tagging and challenging each other to create content. Admittingly, I am behind on a few of these challenges. But I’ll never lack for content ideas.

Daily Doable: There you have it. The seven reasons why I choose ILLUMINATION as my go-to publication for submitting my content. Since you can only publish your stories in one publication, I recommend you give ILLUMINATION a try.

Whenever I write an ACRONYM story, I like to offer my readers this template as a thank you for spending your time with me. It’s my go-to content creation tool. There’s also a list of some of my favorite paid tools. No opt-in required.

Below are some of the friends I have made in Illumination and others who I want to encourage to join us in this wonderful publication.
