Why I Believe Everything Happens For A Reason — Even The Bad Things
There’s more to the picture than we see
Let’s break down what the phrase “everything happens for a reason” means. To me, this means that everything is divinely orchestrated. You may be asking, “if everything is divinely orchestrated, then doesn’t that take away from our free will?” Let me explain.
The way I see it is there are multiple paths we can go down in life and depending on what path you choose, there’s a series of events that the divine implements to teach you the lessons you were supposed to learn in this lifetime. Usually, our greatest life lessons are learned through our toughest moments.
It’s not taking away from our free will, but rather the lessons are created depending on the choice we make.
We sometimes do not know the purpose behind things and that’s just the way it’s meant to be.
I used to think that people who believed that everything happens for a reason were not in touch with reality because what on earth could be the reason behind the pain and suffering of innocent people?
A close friend of mine died an untimely death. She was only 25, yet she died at the hands of a drunk driver. What was the reason behind that? Why did she have to die like that? Her life was just getting started and got ripped away from her in the blink of an eye. What was the reason?
To this day, I still don’t know and I don’t believe I’m supposed to know.
What I do know is that there was a greater purpose behind her death. I refuse to believe she just died because of a stupid mistake made by someone who was under the influence. I believe that even a death as horrible as hers was divinely orchestrated.
When things are divinely orchestrated, we oftentimes are unable to see the bigger picture behind the tough time we are going through. Truth be told, we might not be able to see the reason behind it all in this lifetime because the purpose is much more than we could ever conjure up in our heads.
There are a lot of mysteries surrounding the universe that we have yet to figure out, so would it hurt to believe that the struggles and pain we all endure are for a higher purpose?
Who knows, maybe I’m lying to myself to feel better but regardless, believing that everything has a deeper reason behind it has helped my mental health and my life change drastically. I no longer question things because I know that they happen for a reason I’m currently unable to see.
Surrendering to the divine has given me a new sense of fulfillment because I know that no matter what, divine guidance is at play, even if that means it will cause me pain.
I’m not here to convince you that everything happens for a reason. I’m just here to share my perspective and maybe it’ll help someone out there going through a hard time.
Good luck on your journey! Remember that things happen for you, not to you.
