Why Do I Enjoy Writing?
Three of my reasons to share with you
Have you ever asked yourself this simple question? Why do you enjoy writing?
Writing to me, is a kind of expression I am comfortable using. I prefer to write than make a video of myself speaking. Because in writing, you do not see me physically. Instead, you are reading the thoughts that I am sharing with you.
Perhaps your reason for writing may be slightly different. But it is alright because we all have different motivations for the same task.
So why is writing more comfortable for me? I could think of three reasons.
1. Writing is a quieter manner of communication
Unlike public speaking or filming a video in which a speaker speaks, and you listen to his voice and expressions, writing gives you the liberty to follow or stop immediately. If you follow, there must be some vibes that resonate with you. If you stop, you know you do not like that person’s communication style.
Hence I will try my best to communicate on relatable topics. I hope you can find my sharing meaningful and some food for thought.
2. Writing expresses my thoughts better
If I speak, I must use words as it comes, straight from my mind. It leaves little time for any correction or change. When I write, I can re-write a sentence or a paragraph. Why this is important, is because it allows me to find a better word or a better sentence to communicate.
If you do the same in speaking, it sounds awkward and unspontaneous, but it is perfectly acceptable in writing. I doubt if anyone can write and publish without amending lines or words. I’m sure you took some time for your amendments.
3. Writing brings clarity to my communication
Have you ever wondered why we have to write any formal instructions down? That’s the same as we would in our writing. It gives clarity to what we want to emphasise. Writing in words allows me that unique sense of expression; when I write, there is greater clarity on the points I share.
There could be other reasons for writing, but I will keep this article short to share just three reasons. You can comment and let me know if any other reasons are unique to yourself too!
Have fun writing!
