Why Did I Try To Save People?
A poem

The Search For Proof
Delivering words of comfort Hear me. A transaction in my utility Need me. Imitating your every move. Accept me. Standing in danger for you See me. Melting into your shadows Love me.
Swaddled in significance Depleted in spirit Comforted in weariness The storm persisted.
Lost in the silent darkness A wisp of light escapes The face of my younger self Save me.
Were those her words or mine? I travel through time To a forgotten place A place where I am whole.
I hear you. I need you. I see you. I accept you. I love you.
The ray of light transports me home Without the burden of longing Insidious barnacles left behind With harmony and peace in their place.
I do not need permission to exist I deserve to exist because I do And so do you.
I hope you enjoyed my poem. I haven’t written one in almost 35 years. I knew this one needed to come out as soon as I saw the KTHT Prompts. Thank you and Happy New Year to Diana C., Ravyne Hawke, Spyder and best wishes to jules on the next leg of your journey!
Keep going! You got this 💙
