Why Are So Many “Christian” Stories Actually Against Christianity?

A confused newcomer who’s just looking for some encouragement, not a fight.

I joined Medium less than a month ago and have genuinely enjoyed it so far. I even managed to write a semi-popular article called, “Satan Is Using The Vaccine”. Yes, it’s click-baity, but if you read it you’ll understand why. I wrote it when I was very frustrated with (1) my fellow conservative Christians for buying into conspiracy theories and lies, and (2) my other Christian friends who were shaming and bullying those who didn’t want to get the vaccine.

However, I do have one hang-up.

(Paragraph edited and names added on November 18, 2022) Maybe my algorithm is somehow screwed up and I’m just missing the good ones, but my feed is filled with stories tagged as “Christian” with titles like“Jesus Was A Male Stripper”, or basically anything from Backyard Church (Dan Foster) or Jonathan Poletti, whose sole purpose it seems is not to encourage any Christian in their walk with the Lord in a positive sense. Almost every article is a negative, click-bait title “exposing” something wrong in the church, but funny enough they never mention the good that is happening or the joys of being in an intimate relationship with God, or virtually anything positive for that matter. I’m sure one day I’ll wake up and realise that their small band of followers are the ones who really get it, and every else for the last 2000 years has simply been terrible misguided and wrong.

In actuality, it seems as though a few of the top writer’s in Christianity promote quite a bit of hatred toward Christians and/or spread lies as to what we actually believe.

I know I’m not alone in wanting to be edified from what I read instead of feeling like I need to suit up and prepare for battle everytime I click that dreaded “Christianity” tag.

As a firm believer in free speech and religious liberty (for every belief, not just mine), it’s not the fact that people are against Christ that bothers me (in this context). That’s completely within their rights, as it should be.

What bothers me is that somehow the people fighting against us are the ones with the top seats in our own tag. Anyone coming to Medium to look for edification from the Christian section might leave sorely disappointed.

I’ve had the privilege of finding some amazing writers who write about their faith in an encouraging and informative way, like TJ Seaney, Omolola Olamide, Joseph Serwach, J.R. Heimbigner, as well as some others.

Any other recommendations of people to follow who actually love Jesus?

P.s. If you want my comical take on this issue here’s this…
