Why An Entrepreneurial Lifestyle Will Make You Happy
Risky business? Yes. Autonomy? Also, yes.

I posted my first TikTok today. As a 24-year-old, I felt like I should have been more comfortable doing this. However, I could not have been more uncomfortable.
TikTok feels extremely performative, as well as a market that everyone else has already grasped. I never saw myself being in the creator-sphere of TikTok.
One does what they have to to keep up with the times.
As much as this endeavor of mine was about relevance, it was also about creativity.
I’ve noticed that all the niche side hustles we explore, be it establishing a business on Fiverr, becoming a faceless TikTok creator or flipping websites have one thing in common.
Creativity.
Creativity is a way to self-express and reclaims your autonomy. Creativity allows you to acknowledge your inner child and inner critic.
I have an unfounded theory that many people are unhappy at work because there is a deficit of opportunity for self-expression and individualism.
Most entrepreneurs aren’t selling art in a gallery or publishing books through publishing houses. We aren’t the stock photo for creativity.
However, freelance writers are creative. Entrepreneurs are creative.
We’re creative with how to make a full-time income in our own time. We enjoy exploring new ways of reaching people, and if you’re anything like me, connecting with those people too.
What I love about TikTok or LinkedIn or any social platform -pick your poison- is that they offer a conduit for me to share what I love.
I can connect with other people that also love yoga, meditation, writing, or having a book list so long they’ll never get through it.
I can strategically monetize what clicks with people and I don’t have to give up what I’m not able to monetize.
I can do that because this is my career. My life. I call the shots here.
Entrepreneurship will make you happy because you have time to create your YouTube channel about how cabbage is a superfood that will make you immortal(*this is not evidence-based, I repeat NOT evidence-based*) that has a small cult following while also maintaining your main income streams.
How amazing is that?
Self-employment offers the possibility of a life that is shaped by our hands, filled with jobs that allow us to be fully who we are, and explore new ways of walking in the world.
The money is not going to come right away. Anyone will tell you that if you’re going out on your own, it will take time to build income streams.
The process of getting there can be fun and joyful. Don’t lose sight of that.
That is the guaranteed reward of entrepreneurship. Joy due to autonomy. Joy due to creating in your professional life. Joy due to connecting with others professionally.
The reward is worth the risk.
Song of the Day
I’ve started including music at the end of every article because music is SUCH a big part of my creative process. Usually it’s a song that fits the mood of the piece or my mood today. Let me know if this resonates with you in the comments!
