Who Is In Control? Kindness or Cruelty
Illumination

“Why are you so mean?” Susan asked her friend. “She is an old lady, all she asked is for a little kindness,” “So what?” Jill defended herself. “Because she wasted her life and is homeless, I am supposed to give her my hard-earned money?” “No! Just a little kindness!” Susan shouted, “Don’t you think one day you might need some.” Nodding she said, “No, I have my life all planned out.” Walking away from her towards the old lady sitting on the bench in the park, Susan said, “Do you think she planned for this?” “That’s her problem,” Jill said looking behind her, she didn’t see Susan, but she saw the old lady still sitting on the park bench. An abandon shopping cart nearby packed with junk and dirty clothes. She was wiping her eyes with the back of her hands. Easing closer, wondering where Susan was. Jill looked at the old lady. She was dirty and looked as if life has forgotten about her, but there was something familiar about her. She realized that the old lady was crying. “Why are you crying?” Jill inquired, ignoring her instincts. The old lady looked up at her with sad watery eyes, rotten teeth, dry cracked lips, and said, “they ran out of stock.” “Who?” “Our world, Didn’t you heard It seems as if Kindness ran out of stock I have been searching block by block Checking hills, valleys, and plains Making calls, again and again.”
Her cellphone in hand. Jill thought it was strange that she had a cellphone. The old lady continued, turning her head to the left. Jill noticed a crescent moon birthmark to the left of her neck. Subconsciously, Jill touched her neck on the left side.
“Don’t you understand It seems as if cruelty is in control” The old lady went on.
Jill noticed she had a mole on her left chin. Unconsciously, Jill’s hand moves to her left chin. Suddenly, Jill felt herself spinning. When she came to, she was sitting in the park on a bench. A shopping cart to her right, packed with her belongings. A voice said to her, “if one person shows you kindness today, you get your life back?”
What if kindness really ran out of stock? What would happen to our world?
