Who Are We?

Emotion-driven species, or does reality even a factor here?

Long ago

A species, crawled, stood up, and looked into the sky, relentless effort, imaginary motions, brain-sparked infusion, illusions, dreams, stories, society, bonding,

a journey from being a species to the ruler of the earth (!)

Imaginations empowered us, shaped dreams that pushed us, and tales that inspired us, and reality and truth molded us to conquer the impossible!

The power of emotions and imaginations

Our emotions and imaginations shape who we are, right?

A feeling of confidence boosts your jet engine, propels your pace, and rise from the ashes, lead to glory,

you can be anything you want,

you can embrace the impossible, might opt for solo soul-searching, rocky mountains might not be that high if you dare, or the road to freedom waves nearby,

if you imagine, the sky might turn into blue hues or be cloud-covered in your space, your limitless, unbounded love can break the cages of limitations,

sex, race, locality, country, language, caste, and origin are meaningless, only you can decide what you are (or can be)!

Not so long ago Kid-1: ‘Teacher, I am an elephant.’ Kid-2: ‘Teacher, I am a tiger.’ Kid-3: ‘Dinosaur, dinosaur!’ (And the play went on between the kids and the teacher in the daycare. It helped their creativity and imagination, but within the limits of reality.)

Present Kid-1: ‘Teacher, I am an elephant.’ Kid-2: ‘Teacher, I am a tiger.’ Kid-3: ‘Dinosaur, dinosaur!’ (And the teacher has to acknowledge that they are indeed elephants, tigers, or dinosaurs, not in a playful act, but in reality. Otherwise, they are not respecting the children’s identity they feel like.)

corrupted pronouns, imaginary salutations of individuals, sex and gender controversy, illusion-covered concepts, blurred reality,

You can be a monkey if you feel like it. Does it need to make sense? (How dare you ask!) What about a murderer saying ‘s/he/they/it/ (other binary, non-binary words)’ is innocent, innocent it is then, right?

Brag about being ‘not okay,’ awareness is a necessity, what about a recovery story? Can you ask that? Nope, you are the culprit nevertheless.

‘round and round’, indirect, complex definitions of positivity, identity, promising for the betterment, shadowing someone’s book of business in the background,

fantasy tale embedded in our ‘TikTok’ed lives, Instagram frames in vivid portrayal, fake positivity, obsessive narcissism,

our identity is fighting to hang on, not sure how long it can, though!

I understand that the above poem will raise questions. However, humans evolved when they asked questions, started defying impossibilities, and challenged the status quo.

I believe emotions, feelings, illusions, and dreams shape our journey and help us attain the impossible. I also think that reality is an essential factor in defining the journey. Extreme polarization on any of the above can/will cause chaos and allow stupidity to overrun common sense.

Truth is ever-changing, and ethics too. However, that doesn’t mean we have to ignore everything present now. Not everything that we follow is questionable and breakable; not everything that we are rebelling against is not the truth.

Logic changes, but listening to the logic is critical to growth.

We must keep our eyes open because of how we are being shaped through traditional institutions and media these days; the notions are alarming. That also pushes the more conservative sides to be prone to more extreme cautions. The polarization of ideologies is getting worse. This or that, there is no in-between. No discussions, only debate or canceling each other through the tools available in the society.

Imaginations, dreams, and stories help society to attain the unimaginable. Reality factors, science, and logic help society tackle the challenges and guide for being reasonable.

Whose reality, what reality? What is the truth?

I can smoke weed and describe what I think about reality, but it might not be accurate. Now, if we claim that we have to respect that, then that’s absurd (i.e., if someone says, ‘I’m an excellent driver while stoned, do you want that person to drive the car? I don’t think so).

We are consuming ‘illusionary weeds’ from institutions that take us into illusionary states. Agreeing on every ritual/custom/intrinsic belief is not ideal; the same goes for supporting all the prevalent causes. Get behind the truth, ignore the extremism of both sides, get the gist of the facts from all sides, and then decide.

Have a conversation and discussion, but not debate. We already have too much of that around the world.
