Contrasting Views Can Provide Us Holistic Perspectives
Paper Poetry Week 19 Prompt

Hello everyone,
I hope the sun is shining a brightening light on you, with a sense of hope and enlightenment.
Our week 18 prompt, ‘What is the music of your subconscious?’ ended yesterday, completing the three-week prompt series of ‘Let’s go musical’. We are honored to host incredible words from the following fellow writers who played their subconscious mind’s tunes into poetic songs for us:
♫ The Truth of It by Toni Crowe ♫ The Da-DUMs of My Earworm by Carolyn Hastings ♫ Well Earned Rest in the Afternoon Sun by William J Spirdione ♫ Internal Dialogue by Dr. Fatima Imam ♫ Noting by Jenine Bsharah Baines ♫ Summer Has Come In by Raine Lore ♫ The Celestial Tune by Indubala Kachhawa ♫ Rain Drops by Neera Handa Dr
Thank you.
📢 Week 19 prompt
When: Saturday, July 2nd (UTC-10hrs, Cook Islands midnight) — Friday, July 8(UTC-10hrs, Cook Islands 11:59 pm).
Form: Any form, no limits.
Theme: ‘Contrasting Views’ of the same world story. You can write the poem based on recent events, ideas/ideologies, historical incidents, and debatable topics in your amazing words. However, it should contain contrasting views on the same topic. Of course, you can present your story in an imaginary tale. However, it has to have contrasting/alternative/opposing thoughts presented in your poetry.
Repeating note, multiple sides or views of the same news have to be uttered, not only one side of the story.
The reason for running this prompt was to explore the different sides of the same story. As we are absorbing world news and current affairs through different media, it is better to know the alternative angles of the same news, as that can minimize the polarization that we are currently experiencing as humanity.
Words: Min. 50 words, maximum 500 words.
Title/subtitle: your choice (must relate to this prompt).
Kicker: please use ‘Exploring Contrasting Views’ as the kicker.
Tags: please use ‘Contrasting Views’, and ‘W19 Prompt’ as two of the tags.
Image: one image only 📷
Please note: your image must incorporate a handwritten/handcrafted element in either paper or digital format following Paper Poetry’s submission guidelines (i.e. a handwritten portion of the poem, a decorative title, or an illustration that relates to the theme).
Promotional links: Please feel free to include a promotional link to this announcement and @ handle tag up to five other writers inviting them to join the event.
