Summary

The website content reflects a writer's introspection on their audience, their writing style, and the impact of their work on Medium, while also inviting readers to engage with their newsletter and other curated content.

Abstract

The author, Joanie Adams, expresses a contemplative mood regarding their readership on Medium, noting a follower count of over a thousand-four hundred. They ponder the genuine interest of their followers, the effectiveness of their writing in attracting and retaining readers, and the possibility of refining their work. The writer acknowledges the loss of some readers due to content that may have been too esoteric or not sufficiently optimized for search engines. They are considering the use of tags to increase visibility. A self-review has led to a decision to improve the quality and relevance of their publications. The author also comments on the current state of the arts and the expectation of reward for minimal effort. Despite these challenges, the writer maintains a passion for their craft and invites readers to explore their newsletter, a publication called "The Curation," and other writings, including a year in review and advice for writers.

Who Are My Readers?

Aid An Old Fool In Her Curiosity, Won’t Yer?

Greta Garbo — Ross Verlag

In days of much weariness, I must ask this bloating thing; besides, my curiosity tempts me. I have garnered over a thousand-four hundred followers, bumpkins, stalwarts, editor-seeking, individuals. And I wonder how many of those seek my words out, not in vain love for the self, but rather in my curiosity of numbers and things best left omitted for the sake of so much; I wish only that I gain something, without me publishing all of the time to gain aught. My wee complaint.

I know several I can call on, as often as not, but many readers it seems I have lost; either I offended them, or lost them on an overly-stretched reach of poetry or prose. And I know my stuff hardly appears in those search engines. Makes me ponder if I should start tagging, like several I have seen done — should I?

I have been doing a recent review of my pieces so far on here, and my conclusion isn’t a good one of what remains here. Time to tidy everything up, and bring forth a better standard here methinks, a little less superfluousness and more usage of usefulness.

Luckily, my hunger remains just enough for here, for now, for how much longer, I cannot say; If one has no hunger for aught, then expect naught back; I swear by some oath, that we are living in an age, at least in the Western hemisphere, where many are demanding aught for doing naught. The arts certainly are shaking, and dare be it, weeping if this rhetoric be true.

The greatest gift to another may be a word revealed, in tome or by story, but what they do with it, I do despair.

Ta-ta Now,

Till next time, Doctor forth-seen, forth-gone!
