Summary

Two souls, Angella and Margaret, reflect on their past lives with God before reincarnating, with Angella accepting her life's journey and Margaret wishing to rectify her wrongs.

Abstract

In a profound narrative about life, karma, and reincarnation, Angella and Margaret stand before God, ready to return to earth. Angella, when asked what she would change about her past life, chooses to keep it unaltered, acknowledging that both the good and the bad shaped her into a historically significant figure. Margaret, on the other hand, wishes to change her treatment of her daughter, expressing remorse for her past actions. God, however, emphasizes the importance of their intertwined fates, suggesting that Margaret's actions, though perceived as evil, were instrumental in Angella's greatness. The story concludes with a philosophical reflection on the necessity of both good and evil experiences in shaping one's character and destiny.

Opinions

  • Angella believes that her past experiences, both positive and negative, were essential in making her the person she became and that changing even one aspect would alter the value of her contributions to the world.
  • Margaret regrets her past behavior, particularly towards her daughter, and seeks an opportunity to make amends, indicating a desire for personal redemption and growth.
  • The narrative suggests that the actions of one person, perceived as negative, can inadvertently lead to the betterment of another, implying a complex interplay of cause and effect in human relationships.
  • God's perspective in the story implies a divine acceptance of human flaws and an understanding that adversity can be a catalyst for strength and greatness in individuals.
  • The author encourages self-reflection and acceptance of one's life journey, including the wrong roads taken, as part of the process of becoming who one is meant to be.

Which Road?

Angella and Margaret are two souls about to return to earth, unaware of each other. Both did good and evil in their past lives before they died. Both were given new bodies along with all of their components.

Before they leave, God asked Angella, "before I erase your memory, if you could have changed one thing in your past life, what would it be?" Angella journeyed into her past, then confidently said, "Nothing." "And why is that?" God asked "You know the answer to that," Angella said. "But, she gave you hell on earth," God refreshed her memory. "I lived a good life in the past, all because of what she did to me and for me. And I became stronger because of what she didn't do to me and for me. She is why I am mentioned in the history books. That would change my life. Then all of the good things I have added to earth would have no value. Plus, I loved my life, good and bad."

God smiled and complimented her, "I am glad you learned wisdom from her actions, choices, and decisions. But, I must give you a new route." Angella nodded and replied, "You can take my memory, give me a new heart, soul and mind, but you can't take my fighting spirit." Smiling, God said, "I won't, child. That is a gift."

Margaret was asked the same question, and she said, "I would change how I treat my daughter." God asked, "Why? She lived the best life she could with the resources you gave her to work with?"

Tears flooded Margaret's eyes, and she confessed, "You know all of the evil that I have done to her and others. Give me a chance to change that and make things right." God looked at her and said, "There is a reason for everything under the sun. Humans need reasons to do things. But the strong are great for a reason. You are why Angella was great. I won't change that."

Sometimes, the evil we do others helps them to be better than us. Take the time to know yourself and your life. Take the time to study life's journey. Good and evil make many of us who we are. Accept your life's trip if you love who you are and what you have become. Because, sometimes, you must cross over the wrong road before you can get to the right one.
