Summary

Ellie Jacobson invites writers to share photos of their writing spaces and the places they wish to write, offering a glimpse into her own creative environments, including her cluttered desk, sunroom, and various outdoor locations.

Abstract

Ellie Jacobson extends an invitation to fellow writers to post pictures of their personal writing spaces, as well as the locations they aspire to write in. She provides a visual tour of her own writing areas, which include a cluttered desk adorned with meaningful items, a sunroom surrounded by plants and visited by her cat Mr. Percy, and outdoor spaces like her deck and the Minnesota Arboretum. Jacobson emphasizes the importance of a change of scenery for inspiration and productivity, whether it's jotting down notes by her bedside or dreaming of writing in historical places like the Glensheen Mansion. She encourages writers to contribute to the "Flint & Steel" Medium publication or to tag her in their writings published elsewhere.

Where Do You Write?

Share your spaces of creativity

We’ve written about our writing rituals. Let’s share where we write.

I love to see where writers write. It’s like a sneak peek into their creative world.

Prompt: I invite you all to share pictures of where you write and the places you wish you could write.

My cluttered desk space. This is where you find me most days. Photos, mementos, and positive messages surround my space

Mr. Percy. Photo by Ellie Jacobson

Behind my deck, you will find our sunroom and my plants. And Mr. Percy staring at me. Some days he opens the door himself. But usually he waits for me by staring a hole into my back.

When the temps cool down, I will bring my laptop out into the sunroom to watch the birds and squirrels running around.

Or go out on the deck. When I edit larger stories, I print them and sit outside for a change of scenery.

I always have a notebook with a nightlight by my bed to jot down notes as they seem to always strike as I’m getting ready for bed.

A few weeks ago, my family and I hiked around the trails at the Minnesota Arboretum. I wanted to stop under this shaded tree and write. But had to keep on moving.

When we were on a tour of the Glensheen Mansion in Duluth, I wanted to sit here and do some writing. But of course, you can’t touch a thing.

Where do you like to write? Or dream of writing?
