When One Rainbow Won’t Do

The Universe can provide a double rainbow!

Some days the doom and gloom of the media can be a bit trying. To hear the pundits tell it, the world is falling apart around us. War, famine, drought, flooding, wildfires, pandemic, and mass extinction; are all subjects of startling headlines. However, the history books tell us that all of these things have been going on throughout history.

Right here, right now, for most people in the world, things are pretty similar to the way they have always been. Unless one is in the middle of a fire, or a battle, life goes on or doesn’t, as the case may be.

People are born. People have struggles. People have joys. People get sick or grow old. People die. And so the cycle continues, as it has for countless generations.

Whether you believe the science-based argument that life began as and evolved from microscopic organisms billions of years ago or that life was created by the hand of providence approximately 6,000 years ago, we are all incredibly lucky to be here. We are here because each of our ancestors, back to the beginning, was successful in passing their genes on to the next generation. In spite of whatever disasters happened in world history, our line of ancestors continued an unbroken chain that led to us. When I think about that, I am profoundly humbled by how fortunate I am to be here at all.

So, regardless of what is going on in the world, right here, right now, I am incredibly grateful to be alive. I am incredibly grateful to be able to look at a sunset lighting up the clouds and enjoy the splendor of the colours:
