When I’m Challenged to Take Pictures on a Certain Topic
52-week photography challenge: September

I’m not a person to follow someone’s lead when out with my camera. I usually capture whatever jumps into the frame. This could be an animal, a flower or a spectacular sunset scene.
However, I am always open to new challenges and ways to improve my skills behind the camera and that is how I found myself joining the 52-week photography project halfway through the year.
Better late than never, they say.
And here I am. Another month and four new topics to follow up on.
Photo Walk. Take your box for a stroll.
This one was an easy one. I often take my camera for a stroll across the fields or surrounding woods and sometimes I also have my GoPro with me to still be able to take landscape shots while only carrying the zoom lens.
Or to be able to take a picture of myself. And the wrapped box. It was raining, hence the raincoat and new rainpants. And of course, the plastic bag around my camera. I certainly shouldn’t expect to see wildlife in my outfit but at least the hunter won’t mistake me for an animal.
I placed the GoPro on two branches of a nearby pine tree pointing at me while taking pictures of something on the forest floor.
Taking my box for a stroll.

Same But Different. Interpret that as you will.
For this one, I could have chosen countless images. Many ideas came to my mind when reading the instructions.
In the end, I selected the picture with the same sky I photographed months ago in the southern hemisphere. The same sky yet still different.
Fewer stars are visible on this side. The Milky Way is just a lot brighter down in southern Africa. And the sky is a lot busier here, in Europe. So many planes are zooming across the sky at night. Down there, only shooting stars fly above my head.
Same but different.

Forever Young. Like Bob Dylan, or not.
Not sure about Bob Dylan but I certainly feel young. Always in the best age as my mom would say. It’s always a question of your mindset.
Took my camera and umbrella for a walk and I ended up dancing in the rain. And a little later I was smiling underneath a bright rainbow.
Those little things make me smile.
Forever young.

Heavy Metal. Keep it light…
This was by far the most tricky one. You all know I’m a nature photographer. Seldom do I capture something else than plants and wildlife.
And yet, I knew I couldn’t ignore this task and had to find something. Just as I was tripping over some wire lying in the forest I knew I had found my object.
The leftover wire was certainly not heavy but the metal connection was given. The raindrops hanging onto the twisted wires were keeping it light and somewhat sparkly.

And this was it. Another four weeks ticked off of the challenge. Now it is your turn. If you need more inspiration see below for other photographers and their take on the prompt.
