When Every Sunset is Worth Writing About
Another stunning day in the desert
I might have to start a publication just for my sunset photo essays. Seems like every week my collection is growing. But there is simply nothing as spectacular as a setting sun beneath the clouds.
So here I go again.
Another day in the beauty of the Namib desert. The country located in southern Africa has more variety than just deserts. But most of my time in Namibia I do spend in the desert.

My friend chose this hidden cave as her birthday venue. It’s just the four of us. Keep it small they say. Practice social distancing they say. Well look at the distance we have from everyone else in the world.
You can’t even see another building!

As the afternoon proceeds clouds started to move in and block the sun. Which was great. This meant the temperatures dropped and we could enjoy a lovely day in the desert without dehydrating (too much).
Just about half an hour before sunset she appeared. The sun. Behind the clouds. And immediately the sky got painted into hundreds of colors.

The boys were enjoying a sundowner while looking across the vastness of this country. Endless plains of nothingness. You could see. But we know better. There is more life out here than you might expect.

Putting my GoPro on time-lapse to capture the beauty of the moment I also captured myself running around with my camera trying to get the best shot. Or as many shots from as many different angles as possible.

It only got more intense.
The sky. The colors. The moment.

I love these special moments.

Moments of a lifetime. Celebrating someone’s birthday with this spectacle. Who needs electronic devices, an internet connection, or anything else if you can have this in front of your eyes?

Thank you for letting me be part of your special day. I appreciate it a lot and I’m very grateful for what we experienced together. Once again, happy belated Birthday, Des!
