What’s in Your Bio?

One of the most interesting features of writing on the Medium platform is the space provided to tell others about yourself. What you write about, your achievements, something about your life. Each person treats the space differently. And some take the opportunity to do it with their own style.

Mal has a picture of a Malamute in her circle and informs us that “On the internet they can’t tell that you’re actually a dog…”

Kittie Phoenix writes that among other things she is a “….Dreamer | Wanderer | Mischief Explorer | Country Mouse (more tags to follow over time)”

Kristin Laudenslager says she is “Striving for kindness & creativity in all things. My motto: serious + important ≠ boring”

steve wardrip says he is a “Writer of Rumors, Gossip, Lies and Dreams — Poet, Scallywag, Whippersnapper and Galactic Co-Pilot”

Some writers state the obvious and say what most of us are thinking: Ana says: “Thank you for checking out my work!” and Vidhu Soman says: “I try to make sense of everything around me.” Maryann Kobiti-Lambo tells us: “I write about my experiences. Welcome!”

Abhay Salvi warns us that he’s: “Looking at the world through coloured glasses and Dumping my ideas on Medium.” Belinda B gives us a heads up: “…….Sure, the story has been told before, but not the way I’ll tell it….” and Erin King cautions us: “Don’t be fooled, I have no idea what I’m doing.”

Some make us a little sad: John McCauley says: “Retired for a year, and had to unretire. Needed purpose, bucket-listing wasn’t enough. Then I lost my son to leukemia and life was turned inside out.”

Just a little humor: Jay Medina tells us that among other things, he is a….. “…Serial Failure, Pro Nap Taker… What? I still have characters left?”

I don’t know that I’ll ever spice up my bio any more than it already is. I think I prefer putting my creative efforts into my actual work. But I will definitely be thinking about it.
