What Women Need To Understand About Jonah Hill’s Texts

It’s not just a simple request he had. It’s basically a pile of red flags.

So, full disclosure. I didn’t really know who Jonah Hill was until this scandal hit the airwaves. For those not in the know, Hill is an American actor and his ex-girlfriend came forth with some pretty damning text messages.

Sarah Brady, a professional surfer, had been dating Hill for the better part of a year. Then, she leaked these texts on her Instagram Story…

The texts themselves are alarming, to say the least.

Oh dear. Jonah seems to be making a lot of demands.

He’s basically saying that he’s not the right partner for his professional surfer and model girlfriend because he doesn’t want her to post bikini photos online or talk to male surfers.

Then, in the other text, he’s guilt-tripping her and manipulating her. He’s trying to push her to quit the career that made her famous. What a fucking little-dicked-energy, whiny-ass, Cinnamon-Toast-fucked piece of shit.

Author’s Edit: I’m sick and tired of having to explain to men on this shit that this is abuse and controlling. If he didn’t want a model, he can go to a church and wife a lady up there. If you defend this man’s actions and say it’s not controlling, look in the mirror and understand I’ll ban you.

There are several major red flags that most women can pick up on, and it’s time we look at each one.

But yeah, let’s take a look at all the warning signs that women should watch for here:

• He is trying to push her to quit her career. Hill knew she was a professional surfer and bikini model. All of a sudden, he’s asking her to quit the very career that she had when they met. That’s one of the first things abusers do — they try to make it financially difficult for a woman to leave.
• Hill then demanded that she stop hanging out with men as well as “women who are in unstable places.” This is another page from the abuser’s handbook. Isolating the victim makes it harder for them to leave.
• He is using the word “boundary” when he really means “demand” while refusing to respect her boundaries. This is a covert type of manipulation that people are starting to call therapy talk. Therapy talk uses medical terms to reframe abuse in a way that gaslights the victim. By using the term “boundary” here, he’s making it easier for him to reframe her as the problem by refusing to kowtow to demands.
• His guilt-tripping doesn’t stop until he decides. He’s steering the conversation.
• The language that Hill uses is there to convince Sarah that she’s undesirable. There’s a reason he keeps trying to get her to “qualify” herself to him by saying he would never date a model. It’s because he’s hoping to lower her self-esteem until she complies with his demands.

Sarah was right to leak the conversation and warn others.

Men who really, truly hate women often will gravitate to the happiest woman they can find just to knock her down a peg. That’s why he targeted her.

Men like Jonah get a genuine rise out of seeing women give up the things they love the most for them. That’s fucking evil. And behavior like this should make women run as soon as it rears its head.

Sarah was absolutely targeted by Jonah. It’s (sadly) a commonplace occurrence with abusive men and nothing she could have done could have prevented him from trying to fuck up her life.

If your date has been using similar language, make no mistake about it. The best course of action is to ghost and also warn other women.

Fuck you, Jonah Hill. And fuck men like you. Not just because of how much you hurt women but because it’s men like you that make women avoid men overall.

This writer, in particular, hates having to write articles like this. And yet, here we are. Someone has to keep women safe and warn them because you really can’t be arsed to be a good person.

Sadly, too often, women are derided or just not believed when they speak up. So, many of them end up silenced because misogyny is just the way America works.

Worse, men generally don’t say anything when they see this shit happen. Those who do are far better, far more attractive, and far happier than you’ll ever be.
