Summary

The article discusses the power of belief in shaping one's life and the potential for manipulation through misinformation, drawing on historical and contemporary examples to emphasize the importance of critical thinking and awareness in the ongoing struggle between good and evil.

Abstract

The article delves into the transformative potential of personal belief systems, citing historical figures and contemporary thought leaders who advocate for the principle that one's beliefs can dictate their reality. It underscores the significance of positive affirmations and the impact of thoughts on personal achievement. However, it also raises concerns about the influence of external sources, such as media, in shaping public perception through potentially biased or false information, drawing parallels to Orwellian tactics of manipulation. The author challenges readers to critically evaluate their information sources, recognize the presence of propaganda, and remain vigilant in discerning truth from falsehood to avoid being passive recipients of someone else's narrative.

What Secrets Lurk In The Shadows?

Can we win the ageless war between good and evil?

Everyone loves a good secret, but few can change your life. The simple notion — you become what you believe––isn’t a new concept. When I first heard these words, like most people, I shrugged them off as psycho-babble, but at a low point in my life, anything was worth a try. So, I did my research and found the premise historically reaches as far back as the Bible.

Throughout the ages, some of the greatest philosophers, inventors, scholars, leaders, poets, and teachers believed in the value and truth of this simple concept. You’ve probably heard it said many different ways, but the meaning is pure in its simplicity.

You are what you believe.

Take a peek at the examples below––then stay with me. This only scratches the surface of my article.

Earl Nightingale––We become what we think about.

Buda––All we are is what we thought about.

Marcus Aurelius–-A man’s life is what his thoughts make of it.

Ralph Waldo Emerson––A man is what he thinks about all day long.

Lance Armstrong––Anything is possible, but you have to believe and you have to fight.

William James––Human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitudes of mind.

George Bernard Shaw––People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don’t believe in circumstances. The people who get on in their world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want and if they can’t find them, make them.

Henry Ford––Whether you believe you can or believe you can’t, you are absolutely right.

Rhonda Byrne––The law of attraction — we attract what we think about.

The quotes are all phrased differently, but the premise is the same. What you believe, you can achieve. The concept is NOT a theory, it’s a fact of the human experience. I changed my own life using this premise.

So, to go a step further, let’s assume the premise is fact. If we can program our thoughts with positive affirmations, we can energize ourselves––which is awesome––to help us follow our dreams.

But what if other sources input information into our daily lives, too? And what if that information is not factual at all? What if we are fed subtle lies or misinformation to sway our beliefs?

I’m sure most people have heard the term Orwellian. The dictionary definition refers to the writings of George Orwell, especially with reference to his dystopian account of a totalitarian state in Nineteen Eighty-Four.

In truth, Orwellian language exists in our society today. Some countries broadcast information that deliberately obscures, disguises, distorts, or reverses the meaning of words to make the truth sound more palatable.

We all listen to local, national, and world news to keep up with what’s happening in our lives. But, what if the media deliberately delivered skewed news reports daily for years under the guise as honest, factual news?

Would you recognize the truth from lies? Most people would instinctively think, “Of course. I’m educated and smart enough to know the difference.”

But are you? If you’ve been fed information subtly for months…years…decades, you believe what your programed mind has been trained to see as truth––until…or unless some profound incident opens your eyes. But sadly, those events are often too late.

Why would people feed you with false information? That’s simple. Power, greed, and control.

And if you don’t believe that, your eyes are wide shut!

So, I challenge you––delve deeply into your information sources. As humans, we are all programable and subject to propaganda that lurks in the shadows behind us. Don’t fall victim, or you might wake up one day to a whole new world you never saw coming or thought possible.

The ancient war between good and evil rages on. And evil will win if we keep our heads in the sand. Don’t live your life like a ship adrift in the ocean with no destination. To live a purposeful life, you must awaken the sleeping giant within. Don’t be led like sheep to slaughter, or your choices will be forever made for you.
