What I’ve Learned From My First Year on Medium And How I Plan To Continue Growing in 2024

I’m Oksana, a YouTuber, Front-end developer from Ukraine. This is my story on Medium Partner Program in 2024 and growing my Medium account to 1k views/month.

The Origin Story:

In 2023, while on maternity leave, I found myself with some extra time on my hands. Without a clear purpose, I began writing my thoughts and experiences on Medium.

A Year of Writing:

Throughout 2023, I wrote 24 articles covering technical topics and personal reflections. It was a year of self-discovery and experimentation, with no specific goal initially.

Just after reaching 1,000 views, I discovered the potential of earning money with the Medium Partner Program.

Facing Medium Limitations:

One challenge I encountered was the unavailability of the Medium Partner Program in Ukraine.

Despite the inability to earn directly from my articles, I persisted in sharing my stories and insights with the world. During this time, my sister, who had relocated to the UK due to the war in Ukraine, joined me in this creative endeavor.

Turning Challenges into Opportunities:

To circumvent the program issues in Ukraine, my sister and I turned on the Partner Program for the UK. This helped us support each other’s writing. We started working together. Is it legal? I think so because the UK taxes will be paid. We will write more articles together to try to grow this account.

My timeline on Views on Medium:

In February 2023, I had 2 articles and got a just 73 views/month;

In May 2023, the views even decreased to 15 views/month.
After six months and 15 articles, I got my first 200 views a month!
Finally! After one year, January 2024 and 22 written articles, I got my first 1,000 views.
