What It’s Really Like to Get the IRS Stimulus Check
If I had a dollar for every time… wait — Now I have $1,200.

Cha-ching! I was paid to write this article — okay, not really.
But in a way, I was.
I feel like I’m on some kind of game show, but with the United States Government instead of Ellen.
I have no idea why I was up at 2 A.M. this morning, but I was.
It could be due to my cold brew addiction.
I was chatting with my brother, and all of the sudden, this notification popped up on my phone:

The mythical thing… appeared.
I don’t know why I didn’t think it would happen to me, but I sort of just figured it was like the Loch Ness monster. Everyone talks about it, but no one ever sees it — except for like five people who swear they have, so it keeps the legend alive.
However, this is real, not one of those bizarre joke screenshots that have been going around.
Disclaimer: I have never seen Nessie, but I haven’t been to Scotland yet either.
Do I feel weird about it?
To be honest, kind of.
This is a strange time in History indeed if a global pandemic means I get a check from the government to stimulate the economy, bars and restaurants are closed, and thousands are contracting a novel disease — are we in the 1920’s, or the 2020's?

Am I complaining about $1,200 being plopped into my bank account?
Nope.
Definitely not. In fact, it might speed up my 27-year-old version of House Hunters.
But it happened, and I kind of just wanted to share with everyone that it is, in fact, a real thing.
And that it can happen to you, too, at two in the morning.
Do I actually think they’re going by a certain system?
No. I think it’s just going to happen at random!
Someone I know who makes double what I do got theirs yesterday, so I’m not sure they are going by “who needs it first, gets it first” basis. It felt mythical and almost laughable when I heard someone that I knew had actually gotten a deposit yesterday, and now here I am, reporting out.
They are doing it very, very quickly though, since many news outlets reported that it would “start next week” just last night.
