What It’s Like For Me in 2021 and My Medium Stories
The year 2021 is the second year we all suffer and fight with the covid 19 pandemic. Sadness, happiness, we all conquer it all because today is 2022 we are still alive and kicking. We All Shall Need How to Dance The Storm and Stop Fighting
After 2020 with lockdown for 8 months in the Philippines and covid arising around the world, I was finally able to join in the middle of 2020 with my husband in Austria. So here is a recap of what it's like for me in 2021.
JANUARY 2021
I was in Austria at this time. Remembering the heavy winter. The snow started early back in December of 2020. It was lockdown in Vorarlberg State where our village is located.
FEBRUARY 2021
This month, I started joining Medium Partners Program. Though I signed up with Medium back in 2018, I was just creating an account and was using some articles from another platform called Hive.
MARCH 2021
In March the winter is about to end and the springtime starts to bloom. I visited a beautiful place called Samina. I have a little understanding still about Medium. I found a Publication called @Illumination and I submitted a few articles. What I like about Illumination is that they accept topics of any form. I submitted photography and travel and this time, this pub was my go-to publication. Dr Mehmet Yildiz is very kind in helping new writers and I have improved myself with his advice.
APRIL 2021
By the end of April 2021, I have published 46 articles on Medium. I mostly just publish old articles from another platform. But this time, I knew I have to improve my writing. There are writers on Medium that advise me and build a good relationship with them until today.
By the end of April in 2021, I was enjoying the Springtime. Sad to say, I needed to go back to Singapore for some emergency situation. My fever keeps coming back and my husband and I felt so worried. My right breast was swollen and getting worse every day.
MAY 2021
Finally, on May 8, I was able to get a flight even at that time were lockdown in Austria. Due to lockdown, I am not allowed to enter Zurich- the closest airport in Vorarlberg. My husband has to drive me all the way to Vienna, the capital city of Austria.
The 8 hours drive in Springtime was enjoyable. I always wanted to see Vienna again as I find it a very beautiful city. If you like to see the video I have created over to my Youtube channel.
Part of May and the beginning of June in 2021 I was under quarantine at one of the five stars hotels in Singapore with a magnificent view over Marina Bay. It was a pretty boring time under quarantine. But we're able to rest and get over the Jetlag and the same time.
JUNE 2021
By June, the first thing I did after quarantine is to eat my favorite meal, get vaccinated on June 9, 2021, and go to see the Supertree Singapore which is totally quiet. I have written an article about the supertree
My views on Medium increased because I was able to write and publish one article every day. I became a top writer on Travel and Photography at this time of the month.
I even visited Kusu island with my friends in Singapore.
JULY 2021
By July of 2021, the shocking result of checkups and blood testing results came and I was diagnosed with Malt-B Cell Lymphoma.
I am trying to keep cool and everything went smooth with my conditions. A tumor was removed. Went to check further with a PET scan and it was concluded that I have no other tumor. Thank you, Lord God. It was a relief.
AUGUST 2021
Beginning of August, I was preparing my come back to Austria to join in with my husband. Enjoying the time with my Singapore friends. Did a lot of Hiking and a lot of walking in many parks in Singapore.
Also in August, I build up more friendships on Medium and joined many publications.
SEPTEMBER 2021
Towards the end of August and the first week of September, my husband tours me in Switzerland. The place is called Jungfraujoch. I was fascinated by the beautiful Swiss alps mountain.
OCTOBER 2021
In October we did a lot of Hiking in many places around the state of Vorarlberg in Austria. I was enjoying the Autumn and have published articles about my experiences. The images I posted and the 2 tags that I have been using for almost all of my articles got me and keep my status of Being one of the time writers in Travel and Photography here on Medium.
NOVEMBER 2021
In November, I tried writing and posting short stories on Medium. My stats spikes like crazy. The earnings spikes a bit. But I have to tell you, it wasn’t an easy thing to do. Commenting and curating other writers is hard work.
I was asking myself at the end of November was this all worth doing every single day?
By the end of November, the weather starts to get cold. This year did not have a colorful Fall or Autumn in Austria. Unlike back in 2020 when I got here, the autumn was so beautiful and it was much warmer than the year 2021.
DECEMBER 2021
The month of December is pretty much cold. Wet and cloudy most of the time. There were only a few days that were sunny.
I can recall it was super heavy rain on Christmas day and we celebrated Christmas with only my husband's sister and her children.
I continue my activity on Medium. Cutting down on Facebook activities, yes I have no luck on Facebook groups. Many are selfish over there. I felt sorry for them though. Many are not honest. I could count 1 or 2 writers who will read your article in return. So I stop sharing my articles on Facebook and shift it over to Linkend and Twitter instead.
Wrapping Up
Looking back, the year 2021 isn’t a bad year for me. I am thankful to be alive. I manage to keep writing on Medium though the compensation is not worth it the friendship and the positivity that it gives me, surely money can’t buy.
Money is important but it is not to everything we needed. We need support from our family, and from true friends who are there for you when you need them, and not there for you when they knew they can borrow you some money and they ran away after doing so to avoid paying you back.
I am after all living a life with many people can dream of living. As Esther George said, Stop Fighting, Instead Learn to Dance in The Storm
Back over on Medium. Today, I have written and published 193 articles and 1797 responses. Are that many? Are those hard work for you?
