What is your writer’s ‘origin story’?

a poem that’s also a mini-interview

What is your writer’s origin story?

As a child I wrote on single-sided paper, (the other side promoting some kind of product, junk mail turned valuable with words and drawings)

as if words were my friends, as company to curb the million thoughts that ran through my head.

Other kids ran with their bodies jumping off playground platforms and sliding down that metal pole like a firefighter that I was always (and still am) too afraid to do.

I was the kid who sat still but ran in her mind one thought splitting into two splitting into four like the mitosis of thoughts.

Tagging Paola Perez | Raffaella Ferretti | Evan Wildstein | Kim McKinney | Toya Qualls-Barnette | K.S. | Sohaib Roomi | Kele Mogotsi if you’re up to it and anyone else interested in today’s prompt: What’s your writer’s ‘origin story’? (Like a superhero ‘origin story’, how did you come to be a writer?)

How to join: include the original post of the person who tagged you for reference and tag 5–10 other people (or simply ‘tag all’) who might be interested in this prompt! (Ps, there’s no deadline!)
