Summary

The article discusses the mythological origins of vampire lore, particularly the inability to see their reflection and vulnerability to sunlight, drawing parallels with the behavior of malignant narcissists.

Abstract

The author reflects on the myths surrounding vampires, such as their lack of reflection and aversion to sunlight, and compares these traits to those of malignant narcissists. Drawing from personal experiences and readings, the author suggests that exposing narcissists to the 'sunlight' of exposure and forcing them to confront their true selves can be damaging to them. The article also touches on the concept of the soul of a narcissist, proposing that while their human side can inflict pain, their soul is undergoing a form of penance for past mistakes. The author advocates for understanding and forgiveness, while maintaining emotional distance for self-preservation, as a path to healing and redemption for both parties. The piece was inspired by another writer's work and intended for the author's publication, "ChannSpirations and Coincidences," but was submitted to the current platform for broader reach and to contribute to the message of self-healing through understanding oneself and others.

Opinions

  • The author believes that malignant narcissists, much like vampires, can be hurt by exposure to truth and self-reflection, which is akin to sunlight for vampires.
  • They suggest that narcissists wear a 'mask' to hide their insecurities, and this mask is what is reflected in the mirror, not their true selves.
  • The author posits that the soul of a narcissist is experiencing karmic retribution for past life errors, and this lifetime is an opportunity for redemption.
  • Forgiveness towards narcissists is seen as possible, but reconciliation is not recommended if the narcissist continues to cause harm.
  • The author values the role of spiritual publications in healing and understanding, expressing a desire for more collaboration between them.
  • The piece emphasizes the importance of self-healing through understanding oneself and others, and the author hopes that their message will reach and help more people by being published on a broader platform.

What is the Source of the Myths that Vampires Have no Reflection and are Destroyed by Sunlight?

Ask a malignant narcissist

I feel inspired to write this short piece after reading the beautifully bighting words of 𝘋𝘪𝘢𝘯𝘢 𝘊. in her poem Hurt You Back, I wish I Could.

In my experience with malignant vampires, and unfortunately, being about 30 years older than Diana I have come across and had relationships with more than I should have before I finally learned life-lessons therefrom, we do have the power to hurt them.

The question I will come to though — who do you see as them?

In my experience and as I have read, exposing them, forcing them out of the shadows and into sunlight, gravely wounds a narcissist.

As for mirror reflections, what appears in the mirror of a narcissist might as well be nothing as it is the reflection of a self-constructed mask hiding the deeply insecure self.

If one sees the narcissist as their human side of the duality, then we can hurt them as above. If one starts to think about the soul of a malignant narcissist, the matter becomes more complex. Their soul incarnated in a human incapable of acting spiritually as their sentence to a lifetime of hell on Earth for a previous life so erred but from which redemption for their soul is possible by being forced to endure and hopefully learn from what not to do.

From this realization, one can forgive the narcissist, as I have forgiven my father. Yet, as I have written in Canceling My Father — The Ultimate Expression of Empathy, And the kindest thing I could do for his tortured soul, as he will not redeem himself and change in this lifetime, it would be masochistic for me to attach reconciliation to that forgiveness, and not reconciling is kindness to us both, so his soul does not have to suffer through his human’s continuing efforts to harm me from the shadows. Efforts that only his soul and I see, thus hurting me even more from the points of view of others who dismiss my truths as “you need a psychiatrist.”

I had intended to publish this piece in my publication, ChannSpirations and Coincidences, because, as set forth here, a story inspired by another writer’s story when the latter did not contain an overt prompt, is directly on point for my and my co-editors’, 𝘋𝘪𝘢𝘯𝘢 𝘊. and Anthi Psomiadou, publication. As just as on point for the message that healing oneself stems from understanding oneself and others, I chose to submit here. Until C&C grows, the message may reach more and thus help more here in KTHT. I wish there were more cross-pollination between the truly spiritual publications here on Medium, in which category I include KTHT, my C&C, Jean Carfantan’s Queen’s Children, and Mark Kelly’s Grab a Slice.

Notice the absence of the word spiritual from any of these tuned-in publications.

Thank you for your time and attention. I hope you found it rewarding.

In Rama I create,

Marcus
