What If Medium Implement this On Tags
Being part of Medium has been an incredible experience for me. It has provided a platform to express my ideas to the world and connect with amazing writers every day.
As I spend more time on the platform, I find that I enjoy writing and learning even more.
While I have a perfectionist personality that can sometimes have its downsides, I focus on the positive aspects and strive to replace any negative traits with better ones.
As I worked on multiple drafts and mentioned other writers in my opinion pieces, I realized that Medium could give more control to each user on the platform.
By mentioning others, I am not only connecting with my audience but also providing exposure to talented writers. I have created a format called “My Top 5 Must-Reads of the Day,” where I give my honest opinion of inspiring articles.
As a passionate user of Medium, I am thrilled about the idea to give users more control over their mentions.
If implemented, these changes would empower users to determine how often they are mentioned and who can mention them.
Having the option to determine the frequency of mentions would allow users to curate their notifications and avoid being overwhelmed with unnecessary alerts.
Requiring the person mentioning the user to be a follower would ensure that mentions come from an engaged and supportive audience.
This would help users feel more connected with their followers and foster a more positive and inclusive community on the platform.
I am particularly excited about the proposal to notify the person making the mention of each mention made.
This would increase transparency and encourage more thoughtful and intentional interactions among users.
- These proposed changes would have a profound impact on the Medium platform.
By giving users more control over their mentions, Medium would become a more user-friendly and inclusive community that celebrates individuality and encourages creativity.
Now, here are two examples:
Example 1:
Imagine you’re a user on Medium who has received multiple mentions in the past few days, and you’re feeling overwhelmed by the number of notifications you’re receiving.
Wouldn’t it be great if you could decide how often you’re mentioned and who can mention you?
- That’s exactly what this proposal is about — giving users more control over their mentions.
Example 2:
Have you ever hesitated to write an opinion piece on Medium because you’re worried about being mentioned by others without your consent?
This proposal would help alleviate those concerns by allowing users to opt-out of mentions and ensuring that they don’t appear in notifications.
- It’s all about giving users the power to decide how they want to be seen and heard on the platform.
How do you think these proposed changes would impact your experience as a Medium user?
Would you feel more empowered and in control of your interactions on the platform?
This is a crucial step in enabling everyone on Medium to be happier and have greater control over these kinds of interactions.
By giving us more agency over how they are mentioned, we can create a more inclusive and supportive community that celebrates diversity and encourages creativity.
- Let’s work together to make Medium an even better platform for all.
