WALKING ROUTE 66
What If It Rains When You Want To Walk
Well, you don a cape and keep walking.

I walked 45 minutes back to McDonald’s after a good night’s sleep.
It was Wednesday morning, which meant the weekly radio program. I received the phone call promptly at 8:15. Judy Busby, the co-host with Bill Gossett, was amazed by all the support I was receiving from people along the way.
While I was on the phone with the radio station, it started to rain, so I had to delay my departure. Finally, about 10 AM, it slowed down to a drizzle. The weatherman said it would rain all day, so I donned my poncho and headed out.
It’s bad enough to be on the road when it’s raining, but it is worse when you’re walking, and everyone else is zipping by at 60 MPH. The only thing of interest I found all day was the place that showcased old cars. I don’t think they were cars; it seemed like they were just car bodies. It was worth a stop and a snapshot.
I made it to the truckstop by 3 PM, and it was good to be out of the rain. Hardee’s restaurant inside the plaza was an excellent place to spend the rest of the day and night.
As I think back and ponder.
In every life, some rain must fall, as they say. I am grateful that in six months that I spent walking on the road, there were only five or six days that I had to walk in the rain. That’s one of the many miracles I experienced on the road.
Today, as I sit here and reflect upon it, I realize that Einstein was right.
“There are only two ways to look at the Universe. Either everything is a miracle, or nothing is.”
Stay blessed and be happy, my friends.
