What I Would Like To Find Under The Christmas Tree
Love And A Cat

I am not a fan of Christmas time. I like the atmosphere and the family reunions, but I find the month of December quite tiring and sometimes stressful.
Yet, every year I feel very lucky since I have received some great gifts.
As a child, the best presents I received were given to me by my mother, who had the gift of realizing my needs, even when they were not clear to me.
She once bought me a lilac sweater and pajamas with lilac flowers that I wish I still had with me. She felt that the color made me feel at peace, yet it took me years to realize that she was right.
For another Christmas, she gave me a wooden object full of little stones. When I shake it, it makes a special sound that reminds me of sea waves.
My mother was surely aware I needed some relaxation even when I was a child!
Another wonderful gift I received is a long nightgown from my elder sister. It was our first Christmas together — she has been living abroad for a long time — and she told me: “If you don t like it, I will keep it”. I misunderstood her words, I thought she wanted the nightgown, and I told her: “Then keep it! If you like it, it’s for you!” She was a little offended and surprised.
At the time, we were just getting to know each other better. After years, it's still my favorite nightgown.
So, most of the gifts I liked are those that remind me of the people I love.
Yet, there is a special gift that I will never receive again: I wish I could find under my Christmas tree my beloved cat Fumo, who left me more than a year ago.
He was always supervising my work while I was preparing the house and putting ornaments on the Christmas tree. He was there with me, all the time.
As you can see in the picture, he used to sit under the tree as if he were a gift, ready to be taken, hugged, and kissed. I miss him a lot.
I am sure that a cat would be a wonderful Christmas gift and a good friend for many people. Christmas is the perfect time to adopt a cat from a shelter and make a person and his new friend very happy!
