What I Like About Me
A prompt response.

Here goes nothing, gang. The inimitable Jimmy Doom challenged me to document, in 250 words, what I appreciate about myself. Why I’m the “tits,” so to speak.
As a lifelong animal lover and advocate, I appreciate the fact that I understand that animals have souls. They feel love, pain, fear…nearly all the emotions we humans feel, but, in my opinion, they are truer of heart.
I have empathy for others, even as my estimation of the “human condition” is sinking by the day. Undoubtedly, that’s a sign of our times and hopefully, when the shit has cleared, I’ll be proven wrong. But as for now, I’m sensing an “every man for himself” mentality, and that scares the hell out of me.
One of my top attributes — according to me — is my deeply creative soul. I must write. There is no other option for me. It doesn’t matter if I “make it” here on Medium or elsewhere…or at all. I am a writer to the core and I hope that comes through in my words.
A wicked, slightly-twisted sense of humor is something friends and family have come to expect from me. I’m happy not to disappoint!
I have balls. Girly balls, maybe, but balls none the less. I never back away from a challenge and I am, admittedly, extremely competitive. Facing and overcoming my fears is a big deal for me and I’m still growing here. But I have achieved things in my life thus far that I never thought I’d be able to pull off, like having two short films produced and a feature script optioned.
Okay. I’m eleven words over so I need to shut the hell up. Instead, I’ll throw the ball to my friends, P.G. Barnett, Gurpreet Dhariwal, Marla Bishop, Joe Luca, Kristi Keller and James Knight. If you haven’t already, add these great writers to TBI.
