Abstract

e this photo, taken outside Bastrop, Texas when I went on a camping trip with a couple of friends. We had stopped at the roadside restaurant next door for lunch. It’s the rustic look of the building and the unusual name of the business that makes it such a wonderful image. A lady bought two prints of it at an art show, one for herself and one for her sister.</p><figure id="0f36"><img src="https://cdn-images-1.readmedium.com/v2/resize:fit:800/1*w0ZwGOats9_WC2DPlUyZIw.jpeg"><figcaption>Spoiled Sisters by <a href="undefined">Rasheed Hooda</a></figcaption></figure><figure id="fe69"><img src="https://cdn-images-1.readmedium.com/v2/resize:fit:800/1*He7LY_cotN7ux8_qqeWH-w.jpeg"><figcaption>Roadhouse by <a href="undefined">Rasheed Hooda</a></figcaption></figure><p id="c77d">What are some of the treasures you cherish?</p><p id="8cee"><a href="undefined">Bob Jasper</a> had this to share.</p><div id="acc6" class="link-block"> <a href="https://readmedium.com/birds-8dc1183517b1"> <div> <div> <h2>Birds</h2> <div><h3>SCBWI Prompt: Treasure</h3></div> <div><p>medium.com</p></div> </div> <div> <div style="background-image: url(https://miro.readmedium.com/v2/resize:fit:320/0*bXPU6rMlQZWrUyeN)"></div> </div> </div> </a> </div><p id="6e93">Here is a treasure from <a href="undefined">Saloni Joshi</a>,</p><div id="43f4" class="link-block"> <a href="https://readmedium.com/the-celestial-diamond-40ba14a2b643"> <div> <div> <h2>The Celestial Diamond</h2> <div><h3>A poem on my muse — The Moon based on the prompt: “treasure”</h3></div> <div><p>medium.com</p></div> </div> <div> <div style="background-image: url(https://miro.readmedium.com/v2/resize:fit:320/0*00RsVGYDHvofHouf)"></div> </div> </div> </a> </div><p id="5949">and one from <a href="undefined">Amy Marley</a>.</p><div id="cc7d" class="link-block"> <a href="https://readmedium.com/treasure-bacfd3b42b46"> <div> <div> <h2>Treasure</h2>

SCBWI Prompt: Treasure

What Happens When You Look For Treasure In Trash

It’s all a matter of perspective.

Humans and Nature by Rasheed Hooda

Have you heard the saying, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure?

It’s true. That’s what keeps the antique market alive and growing.

As a photographer, I try to create treasure out of what some may consider trash. In other instances, it is the trash in which I see the beauty, and present it to the world as art. It’s all in the perspective.

I went for a walk with my daughter this morning to the park by our apartments, and as I was walking, this caught my attention. I didn’t have my camera or phone with me, so I had to borrow my daughter’s phone. I asked her to forward these photos to me. Which one do you find more appealing?

When I look back at some of the photos I have taken over the years, it is usually the memories associated with the event that I treasure more than the photos themselves.

Like this photo, taken outside Bastrop, Texas when I went on a camping trip with a couple of friends. We had stopped at the roadside restaurant next door for lunch. It’s the rustic look of the building and the unusual name of the business that makes it such a wonderful image. A lady bought two prints of it at an art show, one for herself and one for her sister.

What are some of the treasures you cherish?

Bob Jasper had this to share.

Here is a treasure from Saloni Joshi,

and one from Amy Marley.

As always, thank you for reading and responding.
