Drabble Story Arc #2: Seek and Avenge

What Friends Are For

A chapter of a ‘choose your own’ story — drabble edition.

Image generated using Midjourney.

This is a continuation of The Burned Village, a ‘choose your own’ fiction story, “drabble edition,” initially created by JF Danskin. Head back to the previous installments Cleansing the Curse or Wading for Death, or find out how to contribute by clicking here.

You slosh over to Dara by the riverside.

“I might need help,” you say.

She kneels and puts a hand on your shoulder.

“You’ll be back before you know it,” Dara assures you soothingly.

“Thanks,” you say. “For everything.”

“I always help out my friends,” she replies before gently shoving your head underwater.

You can’t help but thrash against Dara’s loving grip as the oxygen leaves your body and your instincts scream for you to find fresh air.

The elf holds your head in place under the surface of the river, and water begins to painfully permeate your lungs.

YOU ARE DEAD…
