What exactly the Medium Boost did for me.

It was surreal to be boosted for this story.

I was planning to share with you what the effects are. But I had to wait a few days, till I experienced the full effects.

I was curious about how long it would last. 1 day?

It lasted 3 days in terms of views, or eyeballs on the story, which was such a thrill.

Reads

I guess this counts the most as we get paid based on the time members spend reading our stories?

Fans

Perhaps this meant internal traffic fell back to normal but I was still getting external reads?

1.91k views

Absolutely gobsmacked as 1.91k views massively outstrips what I usually get.

May not translate to earnings if views are external though. As you can see I normally get only about 20–50 views.

Spillover Effect

The 170 views was a spillover from the boosted article.

What I Earned for that Story

The actual boosted article earned $16.73 which is way more than the $1 or less I usually earn.

Grateful is an understatement.

In terms of making a living it’s not much, but the validation is immense. I desperately needed that mental boost as my anxiety has been skyrocketing (not being financially independent or stable) and self esteem has always been low.

Total Reading Time

The total member reading time was 16 hours so it seems like you earn a dollar per hour?

This seems low because I used to earn S$20 (USD$15) per article (way less effort) when I had a freelance blogging stint a decade ago.

Sadly that lovely boutique baby product company, based in Paris, closed down. But I remain forever thankful to the owner. Dreaming of a stint like that again.

You see. I felt blessed as it came to me. I didn’t seek it out.

I was blogging daily then and had high traffic. My niche was being a tourist in my own country, Singapore. My partner helped me alot by driving me to new places to try out the food. The most enticing photos are usually taken by him but he lets me take the credit.

My blog was listed on page 1 of Google. I let that all go once I got diagnosed with cancer. Without regular blogging and when the Google algorithm changes it all goes south.

Mostly internal traffic with only 5 from google.

My Niche?

Looks like my niche is mental health and writing. But I just can’t narrow it down. I’ll speak on anything I feel from the gut or feel compelled to share.
