Is Madonna too old to be doing this?
Madonna is old. Anything you read about Madonna these days is all about her age, yes, she’s 63 but hey, so will you if you were born in 1958, make that 64.
This year marks her 40th year as a music icon and the Queen of Pop. Do you still remember her first song? Let me refresh your memory, here’s the MTV of Everybody.
But before you ‘watch and listen, ’ did you know who wrote the song Everybody by Madonna? Yes, it’s Madonna herself, most of her songs were written by her.
Every time Madonna posts photos of herself on Instagram or TikTok, trolls leave scathing comments about her not acting age-appropriate.
The nerve they say of a 60-year-old woman acting like a 20-year-old.
Her photo showing a nipple was taken down on Instagram, something that didn’t sit well with the Queen of Pop.
“Yo this is the funniest s-t LOL,” “That’s Madonna under the bed trying to do like a virgin at 63. She shot out, if she don’t get her old ass up.” — 50 Cent.
You probably had a hard time reading that, it’s from 50 Cent who had since apologized for his misogynist remark.

For starters, Madonna just released her NFT collection with digital artist Beeple. The same artist who sold his NFT for $69 million.
But with everything Madonna does, her detractors have something to say about the NFT collection which is now on sale on SuperRare.
The pop diva collaborated with digital artist Beeple to create three NFT videos titled “Mother of Technology,” “Mother of Creation,” and “Mother of Evolution,” which show her vagina giving birth to insects, butterflies, and trees up close.

The New York Post calls it NFT Porn. Johnny Oleksinski the one who wrote the article, calls the NFT collection the latest filthy attention grab by Madonna.
He goes further by saying Madonna is starved for attention. Never mind if on the website it says why Madonna is releasing the NFT collection, it’s for charity.

These 3 NFTS are a labor of love a year in the making, as both artists partnered to connect to the idea of creation and motherhood through these visualizations.
Proceeds from the sale will benefit three nonprofits focused on supporting women and children around the world.
Madonna haters will be busy in the following weeks, aside from the NFT collection. Madonna tweeted the Pope, although the Pope hasn’t replied publicly, who knows what will happen if the Pope accepted Madonna’s plea to meet him, and be reconciled with the Catholic Church.
Yes, Madonna let’s just say had a bad rap at the Vatican especially after she ‘crucified’ herself in one of her concerts in Rome in 2006.

You are not in your 20s anymore, fans tell her. Seriously, does anyone think Madonna cares about what you have to say?
In the last three years, she had been dating a man 35 years her junior, they have broken up a few weeks ago.
Even her dating life is under scrutiny. But has anyone questioned Nicolas Cage who is dating Riko Shibata, 26, thirty years younger, and three years younger than his oldest son?
Madonna keeps on pushing the boundaries, but she could be doing this for the younger female artists, so when the likes of Miley Cyrus turned 60, she would have an easier time than the Queen of Pop when it comes to aging in Hollywood.
When Madonna turned 60 in 2019, she did a series of interviews. With Vogue, she said she is being punished for turning 60.
“People have always been trying to silence me for one reason or another, whether it’s that I’m not pretty enough, I don’t sing well enough, I’m not talented enough, I’m not married enough, and now it’s that I’m not young enough,” she tells Aitkenhead. “So they just keep trying to find a hook to hang their beef about me being alive on. Now I’m fighting ageism, now I’m being punished for turning 60.” — Madonna in her interview with Vogue in 2019.
Madonna isn’t alone. It is the same for female actors, at 40 roles are hard to come by, and when they do, they get paid less and they have less screen time than their male counterparts.
This month, ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ the sequel to the 1986 hit movie Top Gun will be finally shown in theaters, guess which actor wasn’t asked to do even a cameo?
Kelly McGillis, the love interest of Tom Cruise’s character. Well, Kelly is 64, and in an interview, she said:
“I’m old, and I’m fat, and I look age-appropriate for what my age is. And that is not what that whole scene is about. To me, I’d much rather feel absolutely in my skin and who I am at my age as opposed to placing a value on all that other stuff.”
In an old interview Meryl Streep was afraid that by the time she turned 40, she wouldn’t do another movie. Lucky for us, that didn’t happen and Streep continues to make great movies to this day.
Final words
Madonna recently became the first and only recording artist to achieve 50 №1 songs on any one Billboard chart, having topped the Dance Club Songs list for the 50th time.
She’s celebrating her 40 years as an artist, she will soon film a movie about her life, and she would be pursuing more NFT projects, sad to say for her detractors she remains relevant, and more importantly, she is still working at 63.
She will always be controversial, and it’s OK to call her out when her actions or words hurt other people, but not when it is about how her face looks and how she dresses up.
We need to live by Helen Mirren’s advice about aging and that is “It’s much better to age disgracefully!”
And can we blame Madonna for following Helen Mirren’s advice?
